X-rays from jet-driving protostars and T Tauri stars [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2006
(abridged:) We study X-rays from jet-driving protostars and T Tau stars. We seek soft spectral components that may be due to shock emission, and shock-induced emission displaced from the stellar position. Two stellar samples are used, the first consisting of lightly absorbed T Tau stars with strong jets, the other containing protostars with disks seen ...

Disks and outflows around intermediate-mass stars and protostars [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2001
In order to study the existence and evolution of circumstellar disks around intermediate-mass stars (M 3M), we have obtained single-dish and interferometric continuum images at 2.6 mm and 1.3 mm of the intermediate-mass protostar NGC 7129 FIRS 2 and of the Herbig Be stars LkH 234 and HD 200775.

OUTFLOW, INFALL, AND PROTOSTARS IN THE STAR-FORMING CORE W3-SE [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2011
We report new results on outflow and infall in the star forming cores W3-SE SMA-1 and SMA-2 based on analysis of $\sim2.5\arcsec$ resolution observations of the molecular lines HCN(3-2), HCO$^+$(3-2), N$_2$H$^+$(3-2) and CH$_3$OH(5$_{2,3}-4_{1,3}$) with the Submillimeter Array. A high-velocity bipolar outflow originating from the proto-stellar core SMA-

Magnetohydrodynamic effect on first star formation: pre-stellar core collapse and protostar formation [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2021
ABSTRACT Recent theoretical studies have suggested that a magnetic field may play a crucial role in the first star formation in the universe. However, the influence of the magnetic field on the first star formation has yet to be understood well.

IRAS 18317−0757: A Cluster of Embedded Massive Stars and Protostars [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2004
We present high-resolution, multiwavelength continuum and molecular-line images of the massive star forming region IRAS 18317-0757. The IR through mm spectral energy distribution can be approximated by a two-temperature model (25 and 63 K) with a total luminosity of approximately log(L/Lsun)=5.2.

STAR FORMATION NEAR BERKELEY 59: EMBEDDED PROTOSTARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2013
A group of suspected protostars in a dark cloud northwest of the young (~2 Myr) cluster Berkeley 59 and two sources in a pillar south of the cluster have been studied in order to determine their evolutionary stages and ascertain whether their formation was triggered by Berkeley 59.

The Naming of Stars and the Study of Protostars [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1993
AbstractThe logic of naming stars could be based more on physical principles as happened in the naming of resonances in Particle Physics. A possible system might be based on extensive Monte Carlo studies of protostars followed by standard Stellar Evolutionary Model calculations.

YOUNG STELLAR POPULATIONS IN MYStIX STAR-FORMING REGIONS: CANDIDATE PROTOSTARS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2016
ABSTRACT The Massive Young Star-Forming Complex in Infrared and X-ray (MYStIX) project provides a new census on stellar members of massive star-forming regions within 4 kpc. Here the MYStIX Infrared Excess catalog and Chandra-based X-ray photometric catalogs are mined to obtain high-quality samples of Class I protostars using criteria ...
