Mapping the HPV Detection Landscape in Botswana: A Narrative Review of Diagnostic Platforms and Their Impact on Cervical Cancer Control

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Cervical cancer is a major public health issue in Botswana, driven by high HIV prevalence and limited screening access. Molecular detection of high‐risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) is crucial for prevention and early diagnosis.

The Clinical Impact of Antibiotic Allergy Labels on One‐Year Outcomes of Solid Organ Transplant Recipients

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 40, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Antibiotic allergy labels (AALs) are common and often incorrect. They have many potential impacts, including the use of broader‐spectrum antibiotics and suboptimal treatment of infections. The impact of inaccurate allergy labels on post‐transplant outcomes in the solid organ transplant population is not well described.

Factors Associated With Opioid Agonist Treatment Engagement and Harm Reduction Service Use: Findings From the New South Wales Opioid Dependence Survey

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Opioid agonist treatment (OAT) is one of the most effective treatments for opioid dependence, but there can be barriers to accessing treatment. This study examined characteristics associated with OAT engagement—never, previous or current—among people with opioid dependence in NSW, Australia, following recent reforms to OAT access.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 524-540, February 2026.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Morbidity and Mortality Among People Living With HTLV‐1: A 30‐Year Retrospective Analysis in a Brazilian Cohort

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT HTLV‐1 infection is a chronic condition associated with the development of malignancies, inflammatory, and neurological disorders. In this study, the causes of hospitalization and mortality were assessed in a cohort of 508 individuals living with HTLV‐1 followed over a 30‐year period. Overall mortality was 8.5% in this population and increased

Variable stars in Galactic globular clusters

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We identified a sample of 88 bona fide Population II Cepheids (henceforth referred to as Cepheids) and 44 candidates in Galactic globular clusters (GCs). Seventy-eight of the Cepheids in the sample align within 2 σ of the period-luminosity relation for Milky Way Type II Cepheids (T2CEPs).

Variable Stars in M13. III. The Cepheid Variables and their Relation to Evolutionary Changes in Metal-poor BL Her Stars

open access: yesActa Astronomica, 2019
New CCD photometry has been combined with published and unpublished earlier observations to study the three Cepheid variables in M13: V1, V2 and V6. The light curve characteristics in $B$, $V$ and $I_{\rm C}$ have been determined and the periods updated.

Diagnostic Performance of the QIAstat‐Dx Meningitis/Encephalitis Panel: Insights From Seven Clinical Evaluations

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
This review compares the QIAstat‐Dx ME panel with the BioFire FilmArray ME panel across seven studies on CNS infections. The findings support the clinical utility of QIAstat‐Dx, highlighting its diagnostic performance, interpretative advantages, and the need for further real‐world evaluation in high‐risk populations.

Eros variable stars: A catalog of Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds

open access: yes, 1999
We present a catalog containing 290 LMC and 590 SMC Cepheids which have been obtained using the two 4k $\times$ 8k CCD cameras of the EROS~2 microlensing survey. The Cepheids were selected from 1,134,000 and 504,000 stars in the central regions of the LMC and SMC respectively, that were monitored over 150 nights between October 1996 and February 1997 ...

Recent Advances in Quantum Dots‐Based Sensors for the Detection of Tuberculosis: A Review

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 6, 12 February 2026.
Quantum dot‐based biosensors enable rapid, sensitive detection of tuberculosis by converting biomolecular interactions into fluorescent signals. Target‐specific probes recognize TB biomarkers, producing measurable optical responses. This platform offers high sensitivity, multiplexing capability, and portability, supporting early diagnosis and improved ...
