CEPHEID VARIABLE STARS IN THE PEGASUS DWARF IRREGULAR GALAXY: CONSTRAINTS ON THE STAR FORMATION HISTORY

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2009
Observations of the resolved stars obtained over a period of 11 years in the Local Group dwarf irregular galaxy Pegasus have been used to search for Cepheid variable stars. Images were obtained in 55 epochs in the V band and in 24 epochs in the I band. We have identified 26 Cepheids and have obtained their light curves and periods.

Navigating the Gap: An Examination of Funder Rhetoric and Reality Regarding Community‐Research Partnerships

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Partnerships between researchers and consumers—specifically, people who use drugs in the context of our research co‐production—can significantly enhance the relevance and impact of research. Funders increasingly emphasise the value of community‐researcher collaborations, yet translating this commitment into effective practice remains ...

Impact of Real‐Time, On‐Demand Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus Testing at Point‐of‐Care on Antibiotic Prescribing and Clinical Outcome in Pediatric Outpatients With Acute Respiratory Illness: A Prospective, Quasi‐Randomized, Controlled Study

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Rapid and accurate detection and identification of viral pathogens have an impact on physician decision‐making for patients with acute respiratory illness (ARI). We aimed to evaluate the Xpert Xpress Flu/RSV test for the management of antibiotic prescribing in pediatric outpatients with ARI. Methods We performed a prospective, quasi‐

Convection in the interior of Cepheid variable stars

open access: yes
Visualization of vorticity magnitude of a 8 solar mass Cepheid variable star. This 2D simulation in a spherical shell has been performed with the MUltidimensional Stellar Implicit Code (MUSIC). The zero point in vorticity is in white. This poster won a Gallery of Fluid motion award at the APS/DFD 2025 conference. This work was performed under the ...

Clinical and demographic characteristics of participants in a hepatitis C treatment trial in rural Kentucky: How policies around treatment access may impact elimination efforts in the United States

open access: yesThe Journal of Rural Health, Volume 42, Issue 1, Winter 2026.
Abstract Introduction The advent of curative direct acting antiviral (DAA) drugs to treat those actively infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) has allowed for discussion around HCV elimination. Restrictive state‐by‐state policies for the coverage of DAAs for Medicaid recipients may hamper elimination efforts in the United States by limiting access ...

Decentralised Hepatitis C Management: A Simplified, Integrated Model of Care in a Primary Health Centre in Pakistan, August 2022–June 2023

open access: yesJournal of Viral Hepatitis, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Pakistan has the world's highest hepatitis C virus (HCV) prevalence, yet access to HCV care remains limited. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health Sindh, Médecins Sans Frontières implemented a simplified, decentralised model for HCV screening and treatment at a government‐run primary health centre (PHC) in Baldia Town, Karachi, Pakistan.

The evolution of the Galactic nuclear bulge traced by Cepheid variable stars [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2012
The Galactic nuclear bulge hosts significant populations of young stars, within a few hundred parsecs around the Galactic Centre, unlike the more extended bulge. Recently, we discovered classical Cepheid variable stars (hereinafter Cepheids) in the Galactic nuclear bulge.

The detection of a companion star to the Cepheid variable Eta Aquilae

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1980
Ultraviolet spectra have been obtained with IUE of the classical Cepheid Eta Aquilae at several phases in the 7.18 day period. Significant ultraviolet emission is detected at wavelengths less than 1600 A, where little flux is expected from classical Cepheids.
