Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Design of the VRLA Battery Real-Time Monitoring System Based on Wireless Communication

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid) battery is an important part of a direct current (DC) power system. In order to resolve issues of large volume, complicated wiring, and single function for a battery monitoring system at present, we propose to build a

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Distributed control strategy of hybrid energy storage system in the DC microgrid

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
In a DC microgrid, because the output of renewable energy such as photovoltaic is intermittent, hybrid energy storage system (HESS) combining ultracapacitors and batteries is usually used to solve this issue.

A Critical Study of Using the Peukert Equation and Its Generalizations for Determining the Remaining Capacity of Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In many papers for forecasting remaining capacity of lithium-ion batteries, various analytical models are used based on the Peukert equation. In this paper, it is shown that the classic Peukert equation is applicable in two ranges of discharge currents ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
