Adaptive state of charge (SOC) estimator for a battery

2006 American Control Conference, 2006
This work proposes an adaptive least-squares estimation strategy to determine the state of charge (SOC) for an electro-chemical battery. An estimation analysis is presented which proves that under a set of qualifying conditions, that the SOC of the battery can be estimated.

Combination Algorithm for State of Charge Estimation

2013 International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies, 2013
When using the Ah counting method to estimate state of charge of battery on electric vehicle, it is difficult to measure the initial SOC, and will bring accumulated errors. In order to solve the above problem, we design an algorithm which integrates the open circuit voltage method (OCV), Kalman filter (KF) and Ah counting method (Ah) in this paper ...

On battery State of Charge estimation: A new mixed algorithm

2008 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2008
A new SoC estimation algorithm is presented. The estimation is performed mixing the Coulomb-Counting and the Model-Based estimation approaches. The algorithm was tested on a brand new lithium-ion cell which use a nanoscale technology able to grant a more powerful and safer lithium-ion battery than the batteries currently on the market. The cell, called

Li-ion battery parameter estimation for state of charge

Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011
Battery state of charge (SOC) is a critical parameter for the control of propulsion systems in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and electric vehicles (EV). As SOC is not measureable during vehicle operation, an onboard adaptive algorithm is developed in this paper.

A new method to estimate the state of charge of the green battery

Microelectronics Reliability, 2017
Abstract Green batteries have attracted great attention due to the characteristics of its high performance and non-pollution. In order to understand the working condition of the batteries and get a better estimation effect on the state of charge (SoC), the following works had been done in NMC18650 lithium ion battery.

Robust state-of-charge estimation of ultracapacitors for electric vehicles

2015 IEEE 13th International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN), 2015
Ultracapacitors (UCs) are an important energy storage technology in automotive and grid applications. They have several advantages, including high power density and extraordinarily long lifespan. Accurate State-of-Charge (SOC) tracking of UCs is critical for the reliability, resilience, and safety in system operation. This paper presents a novel robust

A Robust Algorithm for State-of-Charge Estimation With Gain Optimization

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2017
The charging and discharging procedure of a battery is a typical electrochemical process, which can be modeled as a dynamic system. State of charge (SoC) is a commonly used measure to quantify the charge stored in the battery in relation to its full capacity. Recent efforts of optimizing battery performance require more accurate SoC information.

State-of-charge estimation for supercapacitors: A Kalman filtering formulation

2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
Supercapacitors are an attractive option for energy buffering because of their high efficiency, durability, and low environmental impact. For energy-aware applications, it is desirable to accurately estimate the buffered energy. Under conditions of varying energy supply and demand, estimation of buffered energy by using only the supercapacitor terminal
