Class Identification in the United States

American Journal of Sociology, 1968
Data derived from a national sample survey reveal that education, main earner's occupation, and family income have independent effects upon class identification. Multiple regresion analyses reveal that ownership of stocks and bonds in private companies, savings bonds, and rental property makes no significant contribution to the explanation of class ...

Dynamic synchronization state identification

2017 8th International IEEE/EMBS Conference on Neural Engineering (NER), 2017
In the sensory thalamus and periventricular gray/periaqueductal gray (PVAG) nucleus, the synchronization level of multiple frequency band oscillations of local field potentials (LFPs) have been shown to be associated with chronic pain perception and modulation.

Generalized state identification problems

8th Annual Symposium on Switching and Automata Theory (SWAT 1967), 1967
Various procedures have long been known for synthesizing a sequential machine with a feedback shift-register if each state is to have exactly one assignment; however, these approaches fail if each state is allowed to have more than one assignment. Herein lies the equivalent-state problem.

Speaker Identification in Different Emotional States

2020 12th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2020
A major challenge degrading the robustness of speaker-recognition systems is the variation in the emotional state of speakers. In this study, we propose a speaker recognition system in an emotional state for two languages, Arabic and English. In addition, cross-language speaker recognition was applied.

Testing finite-state machines: state identification and verification

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1994
We study the complexity of two fundamental problems in the testing of finite-state machines. 1) Distinguishing sequences (state identification). We show that it is PSPACE-complete to determine whether a finite-state machine has a preset distinguishing sequence. There are machines that have distinguishing sequences, but only of exponential length.

The identification and control of metabolic states

Behavioral Science, 1970
The following paper demonstrates a series of metabolic transitions of cells and tissues and their effects upon the oxidation-reduction state of pyridine nucleotide measured in vivo by a new technique. We have employed a stereotyped set of transitions to segregate the varied responses of different parts of the metabolic chain under appropriate ...

State-Identification Problems for Finite-State Transducers

2006
A well-established theory exists for testing finite-state machines, in particular Moore and Mealy machines. A fundamental class of problems handled by this theory is state identification: we are given a machine with known state space and transition relation but unknown initial state, and we are asked to find experiments which permit to identify the ...

Identification of incompatible states in mode switching

2008 IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation, 2008
Mode management is one of the problems in discrete events systems control design. Even based on a simple specification, it is very difficult to prove that models of each mode and mutual interaction are correct. This paper demonstrates that supervisory control theory is an effective tool for detecting specification incompatibilities because it clearly ...
