Estimating the state of charge of a battery

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2004
This brief considers the state of charge (SOC) estimation problem for electrochemical batteries. Using an electric circuit model of the battery given in the literature, it is shown how the open-circuit voltage (which is directly related to the SOC) can be estimated based on the terminal voltage and current measurements provided there is sufficient ...

Formation of different charge states and the charge state fractions of sputtered Ti and Ni

Surface Science Letters, 1986
Abstract The energy and angular dependences of the charge state fraction η i of Ti and Ni particles sputtered in binary collisions with Ne + and Ar + ions were determined. It was found that the charge states strongly depend on v ⊥ , the velocity component normal to the surface, and on the species of the primary ions. Monte Carlo simulations (

Charge Detection Mass Spectrometry with Resolved Charge States

Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2012
Charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) measurements have been performed for cytochrome c and alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) monomer using a modified cone trap incorporating a cryogenically cooled JFET. Cooling the JFET increases its transconductance and lowers thermal noise, improving the signal to noise (S/N) ratio.

State of charge

IEEE Spectrum, 2012
In a cloud of car exhaust during a Friday rush hour, I'm humming over San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge in an all-electric, tailpipe-free Nissan Leaf. I've plotted a course for Vacaville, 88 kilometers (55 miles) north, known for its sprawling outlet mall.

State of charge estimator for NiMH batteries

Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2003
A state of charge estimator for Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, suitable for hybrid vehicles automotive applications, is proposed. The estimator is based on a statespace dynamic model of the battery which is obtained by modeling the kinetic of reactions and the diffusion phenomena.

Theory of charge states in sputtering

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, 1981
The ionization of particles sputtered from solid state substrates is a complex phenomenon which involves motions and strong electronic perturbations of a large number of atoms and may comprise several independent physical processes. Thus, a theoretical description of charge states of sputtered particles which would be more than a working hypothesis ...

MAGNETIC AND NON-MAGNETIC CHARGE STATES IN YbPd

Physical Review Letters, 1986
In YbPd, $^{170}\mathrm{Yb}$ M\"ossbauer measurements show that two different Yb charge states, one magnetic and one nonmagnetic, are present in essentially equal proportions. For the magnetic fraction the saturated spontaneous magnetic moment is $1.15{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{\mathrm{B}}$, which is lower than that in any of the ${\mathrm{Yb}}^{3+}$ cubic ...

Improved peptide charge state assignment

PROTEOMICS, 2003
Abstract We present a new approach capable of assigning charge states to peptides based on both their intact mass spectrum and their fragmentation mass spectrum. More specifically, our approach aims at fully exploiting available information to improve correct charge assignment rate.

Controlling Charge States of Large Ions

Science, 1999
The charge state of ions produced in electrospray ionization (ESI) was reduced in a controlled manner to yield predominantly singly charged species by exposure of the aerosol to a bipolar ionizing gas. Analysis of the resulting ions on an orthogonal time-of-flight mass spectrometer yielded mass spectra greatly simplified compared with conventional ESI ...

Charge-displacement analysis for excited states

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
We extend the Charge-Displacement (CD) analysis, already successfully employed to describe the nature of intermolecular interactions [L. Belpassi et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 132, 13046 (2010)] and various types of controversial chemical bonds [L. Belpassi et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc. 130, 1048 (2008); N. Salvi et al., Chem. Eur. J.
