The State – between Crisis and Reform [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Economics, 2008
By the end of the 20th century, the world had become increasingly interconnected. On one hand, the globalization level of the market economy had amplified, which called for understanding the interactions between the local and global action levels, as ...

Deregulation: From Theory to Practice

open access: yesEconomía
This paper links microeconomic theory with the political economy of regulation. We explain why modern economies tend to become persistently over-regulated and we outline a practical strategy for deregulation.

Ion Concentration and Voltage Imaging With Fluorescent Nanodiamonds

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate reversible switching between the fluorescent NV0 and the dark NV+ state, in sub‐30 nm FNDs via surface oxidation and hydrogenation, respectively. In an electrochemical cell, we show that the fluorescence from hydrogenated particles enables all‐optical imaging of voltages and ion concentrations at the micrometer scale.

Electrolyte Engineering Challenges and Opportunities for Next‐Generation Aqueous Ammonium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous ammonium‐ion batteries (AAIBs) face a hydrogen‐bond paradox: the HB network enables fast NH4+ transport but triggers water decomposition. This review dissects this dilemma, evaluates multiple electrolyte engineering strategies, and outlines four future directions for next‐generation AAIB design ABSTRACT Aqueous ammonium‐ion batteries (AAIBs ...

Wavelength‐ and Helicity‐Reconfigurable Circularly Polarized Optical Diodes Enabled by Molecular Photoswitches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐optical, photoswitchable diode‐type device for tunable nonreciprocal (asymmetric) transmission of CPL across a broad spectrum of light is demonstrated using molecular motor (photoswitch)‐doped cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) sandwiched between polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polydopamine (PDA)‐PVA composite layers.

Framework Flexibility on Water Sorption and Transport in ZIF‐90: Insights from Neural‐Network Molecular Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A DeepMD‐based molecular dynamics framework is developed to investigate water adsorption in ZIF‐90, explicitly accounting for framework flexibility. Results show that atomistic flexibility significantly influences adsorption energetics, diffusion, and structural correlations, yielding nearly constant heat of adsorption and enhanced mobility.
