Exploiting quiescent states in register lifetime

IEEE International Conference on Computer Design: VLSI in Computers and Processors, 2004. ICCD 2004. Proceedings., 2004
Large register file with multiple ports, but with a minimal access time, is a critical component in a superscalar processor. Analysis of the lifetime of a logical to physical register mapping reveals that there are long latencies between the times a physical register is allocated, consumed, and released.

Illegal state extraction from Register Transfer Level

Proceedings of the 8th IEEE International NEWCAS Conference 2010, 2010
In this paper we present a new automated tool for illegal state identification at Register Transfer Level (RTL). This tool is the cornerstone of a new methodology for functional constraints extraction, to be applied in the ATPG process. Results show that our tool helps reducing overtesting and false error detection during verification.
