Assessing file formats for static image transmission

2006 International Telecommunications Symposium, 2006
This paper presents a comparative analysis between the three most important progressive file formats: PNG, JPEG and JPEG2000. Several types of images and features have been analyzed. This analysis provides elements for saving time and bandwidth in computer networks for image transmission and network browsing.

Assessment of static balance in children.

The Journal of sports medicine and physical fitness, 1992
The ability in maintaining body balance of 6-, 8-, and 10-year-old children performing three balance tests on a force platform was studied. Thirty adult subjects served as a reference group. The mean radius (MR) of the posturogram and the mean speed (MS) of the center of foot pressure (COP) were used as the measuring parameters.

Using material data in static hazard assessment

Plant/Operations Progress, 1992
Abstract Minimum ignition energy (MIE) test methods for gases, liquid mists and dust suspensions are reviewed. A compilation of gas MIEs is given and applications described both in assessing static ignition risks for flammable liquids and the basic requirements for static grounding.

Power flow classification for static security assessment

Proceedings of the First International Forum on Applications of Neural Networks to Power Systems, 2002
The authors investigate the classification of power system states using an artificial neural network model, Kohonen's self-organizing feature map. The ultimate goal of this classification is to assess power system static security in real-time. Kohonen's self-organizing feature map is an unsupervised neural network which maps N-dimensional input vectors

Assessing work for static software bug detection

Proceedings of the 1st ACM international workshop on Empirical assessment of software engineering languages and technologies: held in conjunction with the 22nd IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE) 2007, 2007
A common static software bug detection technique is to use path simulation. Each execution path is simulated using symbolic variables to determine if any software errors could occur. The scalability of these approaches is dependent on the number of paths in the program.
