Static and Cyclic Load-Deflection Characteristics of NiTi Orthodontic Archwires Using Modified Bending Tests

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2009
Near-equiatomic nickel-titanium (nitinol) has the ability to return to a former shape when subjected to an appropriate thermomechanical procedure. One of the most successful applications of nitinol is orthodontic archwire. One of the suitable characteristics of these wires is superelasticity, a phenomenon that allows better-tolerated loading conditions

Fabrication of Metallic Sandwich Plates with Inner Dimpled Shell Structure and Static Bending Test

Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers A, 2006
Metallic sandwich plates with various inner cores have important new features with not only ultra-light material characteristics and load bearing function but also multifunctional characteristics. Because of production possibility on the large scale and a good geometric precision, sandwich plates with inner dimpled shell structure from a single ...

Static and dynamic responses of a novel Al nanocomposite foam/sandwich structure under bending, impact and quasi-static compression tests

Journal of Sandwich Structures & Materials, 2017
The aim of this study is to analyze mechanical properties of a new Al sandwich structure with a foam core reinforced by 0.75 wt% silicon carbide nanoparticles. The reinforced core as the main component of the sandwich structure is examined by nanoindentation, quasi-static compression, impact and three-point bending tests.

Shearing and bending human knee joint tests in quasi-static lateral load

1995
Previously a mathematical model of the human leg based on lateral dynamic impact tests was created (Bermond et al, 1994), but it was necessary to carry out additional quasi static lateral tests to fill in gaps in our knowledge. These studies are presented in this paper.

Bending strength and static fatigue of glass fibre in different atmospheres by fibre loop test

Journal of Materials Science, 1984
This study deals with the dependence of glass-fibre bending strength and static fatigue on different factors, mainly the ambient atmosphere. The fracture diameter of a loop (as measured by the loop test), which is proportional to the bending strength, was found to be dependent on the diameter of the fibre, as well as on the water concentration of the ...
