Static cooperative luminescence quenching in nanoparticles
Journal of Luminescence, 2014Abstract In nanoparticles (NPs) static quenching of luminescence may be slower than in bulk media due to the space restrictions on acceptor location. Many-body cooperative quenching (manifesting itself as, e.g., down-conversion) occurs when the donor energy is transferred to two-, three-, or more particles (a cooperative acceptor) at once.

Static quenching of tryptophan fluorescence by oxidized dithiothreitol
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1989The quenching of fluorescence of 5-methoxyindole, N-acetyl-L-tryptophanamide and two single tryptophan containing peptides, melittin and mastoparan X, by oxidized dithiothreitol was studied. The slopes of the Stern-Volmer plots for steady-state fluorescence quenching were 133 M-1, 71.2 M-1, 75.5 M-1 and 35.0 M-1 at 21 degrees C and pH 7.0 for 5 ...

Applications of the Static Quenching of Rhodamine B by Carbon Nanotubes
ChemPhysChem, 2009AbstractWe report here on the interaction of the fluorescent dye rhodamine B (RB) with single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). We observe that SWCNTs statically quench the fluorescence of RB by forming a stable ground state complex. Careful spectroscopic analysis indicates that the complex formation is efficient mainly with certain chiral forms.

Size of Micelles Determined by Static Fluorescence Quenching
Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society, 1991AbstractWe developed a new method to measure the average aggregation number of large rod‐like micelles using static fluorescence self‐quenching of a solubilized fluorophore. The method is based on the increase of self‐quenching of micelle‐solubilized pyrene through excimer formation.

Static and dynamic quenching of luminescent species in polymer media
Journal of Fluorescence, 1994A method developed for quantitative determination of static and dynamic contributions to luminescence quenching is applied to Ru(II) complexes in polymer matrices (silica gel and polystyrene), quenched by oxygen. This method is based on both intensity and lifetime quenching experiments.
