Aging of a Homogeneously Quenched Colloidal Glass-forming Liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The non-equilibrium self-consistent generalized Langevin equation theory of colloid dynamics is used to describe the non-stationary aging processes occurring in a suddenly quenched model colloidal liquid with hard-sphere plus short-ranged attractive interactions, whose static structure factor and van Hove function evolve irreversibly from the initial ...

Topology and entanglement in quench dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 97, 224304 (2018), 2018
We classify the topology of quench dynamics by homotopy groups. A relation between the topological invariant of a post-quench order parameter and the topological invariant of a static Hamiltonian is shown in one, two and three dimensions. The mid-gap states in the entanglement spectrum of the post-quench state reveal its topological nature.

On axially symmetrical solitons in Abelian-Higgs models

open access: yes, 2007
A numerical search for bosonic superconducting static vortex rings in a $U(1)_{A}\times U(1)_{W}$ model is presented. The fate of these rings without current, is to shrink due to their tension until extinction.

Quench dynamics of Hopf insulators [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 101, 155131 (2020), 2019
Hopf insulators are exotic topological states of matter outside the standard ten-fold way classification based on discrete symmetries. Its topology is captured by an integer invariant that describes the linking structures of the Hamiltonian in the three-dimensional momentum space.

Discovery of Jet Quenching at RHIC and the Opacity of the Produced Gluon Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The predicted quenching of jets in A+A at RHIC energies has been discovered by STAR and PHENIX in preliminary data reported at this conference. We apply the GLV theory of QCD radiative energy loss to estimate the opacity, L/\lambda_g, of the gluon plasma

Simulação Monte Carlo de mecanismo de transferência de energia de excitação eletrônica: modelo de Perrin para a supressão estática da luminescência

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2011
A software based in the Monte Carlo method has been developed aiming the teaching of the Perrin´s model for static luminescence quenching. This software allows the student to easily simulate the luminescence decays of emissive molecules in the presence ...

Non-equilibrium criticality in quench dynamics of infinite-range spin models [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 125, 040602 (2020), 2019
Long-range interacting spin systems are ubiquitous in physics and exhibit a variety of ground state disorder-to-order phase transitions. We consider a prototype of infinite-range interacting models known as the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model describing the collective interaction of $N$ spins, and investigate the dynamical properties of fluctuations ...

Robustness of FCS (Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy) with Quenchers Present [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Inspired by recent publications doubtful of the FCS technique, we scrutinize how irreversible (static) and reversible (dynamic) quenching can influence the interpretation of such data. We consider intermediate cases where the assessment of photophysics (static quenching, blinking-like triplet state relaxation) influence on autocorrelation curves can be

Drag Force, Jet Quenching, and AdS/QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this note, two important transport observables in the RHIC experiment, relaxation time constant and jet quenching parameter, are calculated from an AdS/QCD model.

Heterogeneities in systems with quenched disorder [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 36 (2003) 10907-10919, 2003
We study the strong role played by structural (quenched) heterogeneities on static and dynamic properties of the Frustrated Ising Lattice Gas in two dimensions, already in the liquid phase. Differently from the dynamical heterogeneities observed in other glass models in this case they may have infinite lifetime and be spatially pinned by the quenched ...
