Indirect adaptive internal neuro-control for a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) connected to a power system

open access: closed31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. IECON 2005., 2005
A novel indirect adaptive internal neuro-controller (IAINC) using two radial basis function neural networks (RBFNN) and actual signals is presented in this paper for controlling a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) with energy storage devices, which is connected to a small power system.

Multi machine power system stability enhancement using Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC)

2012 International Conference on Computing, Electronics and Electrical Technologies (ICCEET), 2012
This paper investigates the enhancement of voltage stability using Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC). The continuous demand in electric power system network has caused the system to be heavily loaded leading to voltage instability. Under heavy loaded conditions there may be insufficient reactive power causing the voltages to drop.

Fuzzy logic based static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) for transient stability improvement

2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. Proceedings, 2004
A fuzzy logic approach is applied to coordinate two control inputs: in phase voltage and quadrature voltage control of static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) to improve the transient stability of a SMIB system. The main aim of the paper is to analyze the effect of coordinated fuzzy logic based SSSC on real power flow, damping of first swing and ...

Modelling of the static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) in three-phase Newton power flow

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2004
Five models of the static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) suitable for three-phase power flow analysis are presented. The SSSC models have been implemented in a three-phase Newton power-flow algorithm in rectangular coordinates. Numerical results based on a 5-busbar system and the IEEE 118-busbar system are given to show the computational ...

Power quality analysis of a Synchronous Static Series Compensator (SSSC) connected to a high voltage transmission network

IEEE PES General Meeting, 2010
This paper presents the power quality analysis of a Synchronous Static Series Compensator (SSSC) connected to a high-voltage transmission network. The analysis employs a simplified harmonic equivalent model of the network that is described in the paper.

Applications of PWNI based static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) to enhance transient stability of power system

6th International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management. Proceedings. APSCOM 2003, 2003
The static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) is a FACTS device, which allows rapid and continuous changes in the transmission line impedance so that the active power flow along the compensated transmission line can be controlled within a specified range under a range of operating conditions and can help to improve the dynamic performance of power ...
