Separation distance and static transmission error of involute spur gears
28th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1992The effects of separation distance and deflection of gear teeth on the static transmission error of involute spur gears are investigated. In this paper, only low-contact-ratio gears with true involute profile are studied. Gear ratio and tooth addendum are varied to examine their effects on the separation distance and static transmission error.

Profile Modifications for Minimum Static Transmission Error in Cylindrical Gears
Volume 8: 1998 Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 1998Abstract The theoretical advantage of conjugate action in involute gears is lost due to the deflection of the teeth under load and due to manufacturing and assembling errors. These factors produce instantaneous variations in the gear ratio commonly referred to as transmission error. The transmission error has been proven to have a strong

Prediction of Gear Dynamics Using Fast Fourier Transform of Static Transmission Error*
Mechanics of Structures and Machines, 1993ABSTRACT An analytical computer simulation procedure for dynamic modeling of low-contact-ratio spur gear systems is presented. The procedure computes the gear static transmission error and uses a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to generate its frequency spectrum at various tooth profile modifications. The dynamic loading response of an unmodified (perfect

Analysis of Gear Static Transmission Error and Mesh Stiffness
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013In this paper, the object of study is one pair increasing gear with building a two-dimensional plane model in ANSYS. According to the gears meshing theory, considering the gear deformation, solve the static transmission error and the gear mesh stiffness in different conditions.

The Static Transmission Error of Cracked Spur Gear Teeth Using FEA
Volume 6: 18th Computers in Engineering Conference, 1998Abstract This paper considers a Finite Element Model which is used to predict the torsional mesh stiffness and static transmission error of a pair of spur gears in mesh. The model involves the use of 2D plain strain elements, coupled with contact elements at the points of contact between the meshing teeth.

Topology Optimization and Analysis of Static Transmission Error in Lightweight Gears
2016In this paper, the influence of gear-body lightweighting on the static transmission error (STE) for a pair of spur gears is investigated by using the Finite Element (FE) method. The transmission error, in fact, is recognized as one of the main internal excitation sources in a mechanical transmission and the minimization of its variability along the ...

Dynamic analysis of high speed gears by using loaded static transmission error
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1988Abstract A single degree of freedom non-linear model is used for the dynamic analysis of a gear pair. Two methods are suggested and a computer program is developed for calculating the dynamic mesh and tooth forces, dynamic factors based on stresses, and dynamic transmission error from measured or calculated loaded static transmission errors.

Effect of static transmission error on dynamic responses of spiral bevel gears
Journal of Central South University, 2013The effect of static transmission error on nonlinear dynamic response of the spiral bevel gear system combining with time-varying stiffness and backlash was investigated. Firstly, two different control equations of the spiral bevel gear model were adopted, where the static transmission error was expressed in two patterns as predesigned parabolic ...

Tooth-meshing-harmonic static-transmission-error amplitudes of helical gears
Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2018Abstract The static transmission errors of meshing gear pairs arise from deviations of loaded tooth working surfaces from equispaced perfect involute surfaces. Such deviations consist of tooth-pair elastic deformations and geometric deviations (modifications) of tooth working surfaces. To a very good approximation, the static-transmission-error tooth-

Influence of Sine-Shaped Profile Deviations on Static Transmission Error
Engineering MechanicsTransmission error (TE), a parameter influencing gears vibration and subsequent noise, is a subject addressed in many papers. However, most researchers consider ideal or modified involute while neglecting machining errors. This case study extends the author’s previous work (Czakó et al., 2020) by incorporating tooth profile errors and investigating ...
