Static Transmission Error Analysis of a Hybrid Spur Gear Drivetrain

open access: closedProceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 76th Annual Forum, 2020
This study presents static analyses of transmission error in a single gear pair gearbox for six pairs of hybrid composite-steel spur gear designs developed in a previously presented optimization effort. The results were compared to those of the same gearbox featuring a baseline all-steel gear pair.

Quasi-static analysis based on generalized loaded static transmission error and dynamic investigation of wide-faced cylindrical geared rotor systems

open access: closedMechanism and Machine Theory, 2018
Abstract Coupled loaded tooth contact analysis (LTCA) model and Timoshenko beam element model, a quasi-static contact analysis model for the wide-faced cylindrical geared rotor system considering shaft deflection is developed. The generalized loaded static transmission error for the wide-faced cylindrical gear pair is proposed for the first time, and

Effect of static transmission error on dynamic responses of spiral bevel gears

open access: closedJournal of Central South University, 2013
The effect of static transmission error on nonlinear dynamic response of the spiral bevel gear system combining with time-varying stiffness and backlash was investigated. Firstly, two different control equations of the spiral bevel gear model were adopted, where the static transmission error was expressed in two patterns as predesigned parabolic ...

Static and Dynamic Transmission Error Measurements of Helical Gear Pairs With Various Tooth Modifications

open access: closedJournal of Mechanical Design, 2019
This paper presents a set of motion transmission error data for a family of helical gears having different profile and lead modifications operated under both low-speed (quasi-static) and dynamic conditions. A power circulatory test machine is used along with encoder and accelerometer-based transmission error measurement systems to quantify motion ...

An Experimental Investigation of the Static Transmission Error and Torsional Mesh Stiffness of Nylon Gears

open access: closedVolume 7: 10th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2007
This paper details an investigation of the relationship between the static individual torsional mesh stiffness and the static transmission error of gears in mesh. The investigations of the individual torsional mesh stiffness are one of the fundamental concepts in gear analysis and behaviour that have been used in recent years for predicting ...
