Improvement of power system stability using static voltage stabilizer
Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1979The effects of the static voltage stabilizer on the stability of a bulk power transmission line were investigated. Two types of stabilizer are considered. One is a saturable-reactor type and the other is a thyristor-controlled reactor type. Control method and transient behavior are discussed in the case of a thyristor-controlled reactor type.

Static Voltage Stability Assessment Considering Harmonic Effects
2019 IEEE 3rd Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2), 2019As the degree of power electronics in power systems continues increasing, the harmonic content of the system continues to increase as well. In order to study the influence of harmonics on the static voltage stability of power system, a static voltage stability analysis method considering the influence of harmonics is proposed.

Static voltage stability enhancement using FACTS controller
2016 International Conference on Emerging Technological Trends (ICETT), 2016The modern day power system is faced with challenges of voltage instability and has become a great concern to the power system industries. In this work, we proposed a technique of the Network structural Characteristics Participation Factor (NSCPF) to identify the most critical node where reactive power compensator can be placed for voltage stability ...

Static Analysis of Voltage Stability
2021The static analysis method of voltage stability is to capture the system state on different time sections along the time track. By assuming that the differential of the system state variables on the section is zero, the differential-difference-algebraic equations describing the nonlinear dynamic power system are simplified to pure algebraic equations ...

Static and dynamic approaches for analyzing voltage stability
European Transactions on Electrical Power, 2006AbstractVoltage stability analysis always involves a large number of devices with various dynamic characteristics in power system. For properly capturing static and dynamic behaviors providing insights into characteristics of the voltage stability of the system, different system models are established for different time‐scale studies.

Effects of FACTS devices on static voltage stability
2000 TENCON Proceedings. Intelligent Systems and Technologies for the New Millennium (Cat. No.00CH37119), 2002This paper presents a study of FACTS devices mainly static VAr compensator (SVC) and controlled series compensator (CSC). Their steady-state modeling and effects on power system performance have been studied. It also studies static stability improvement of a power system and hence power flow improvement in the network.

Performance Evaluation of Voltage Stability Indices for a Static Voltage Collapse Prediction
2020 IEEE PES/IAS PowerAfrica, 2020The frequent happenings of voltage collapse in a power system in the recent time as a result of continuous increase in power demand has been a concern and has posed a great threat to power system utilities. In this paper, to predict a voltage collapse bus, an approach named critical bus voltage stability index (CBVSI) which is based on the voltage ...

Load modelling in static voltage stability indices calculation
European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1999AbstractThis paper is concerned with load modelling for static voltage stability indices calculation. Static voltage stability is closely related to the maximum active and reactive power flow a network can transmit to load or from generator. A two‐bus system is used to show that the assessment index may or may not indicate the maximum depending on the ...

Transient voltage stability enhancement using Static Synchronous Compensator
2014 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE), 2014This Paper analyzes the application of Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to prevent the transient voltage instability of power systems due to the presence of large induction motor loads at the terminals of long transmission lines. The analysis is supported by transient time simulations for the complete power system following large disturbances ...

Voltage stability as affected by static load characteristics
IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1993Voltage stability is analysed as a dynamic phenomenon associated with the excitation field dynamics of synchronous machines. It is shown that, for constant impedance loads, a single machine powersystem is voltage stable for all reasonable operating conditions.
