Reactive Power Optimization Using Static Voltage Stability Index

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2001
This paper presents a new methodology for enhancement of voltage security using a voltage stability index. The objective function is the minimization of reactive power injection, which is of prime importance for maintaining desired level of voltage security. Linearized incremental model has been used.

Series compensation for static and dynamic voltage stability enhancement

2009 Innovative Technologies in Intelligent Systems and Industrial Applications, 2009
The continuous change in power demand and supply altered the power flow patterns in transmission networks which raise serious challenge in operating the power system in secure and reliable manner. To cope up with this problem Flexible AC Transmission systems (FACTS) is used. It plays a very important role in improving the power system static as well as

Regenerating-Mode Stabilization of the “Statically Compensated Voltage Model”

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007
Reversal of rotation under load of sensorless induction motor drives is very challenging, as there is often an unstable region in the low-speed regenerating mode. In this paper, a variant of the classical "voltage model", i.e. the "statically compensated voltage model", is modified for stable regenerating-mode operation with accurate model motor ...

Dynamic and static voltage stability enhancement of power systems

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1993
The static voltage stability and the dynamic voltage stability are integrated. To consider a shunt compensator and/or a more general load which is dependent on voltage, a modified criterion for the static voltage stability is developed and the system is controlled to satisfy this static stability criterion.

Neural networks and static voltage stability in power systems

2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2008
A power system is an interconnected network of mainly generation, transmission/distribution, and consumption of electrical energy. The steady-state operation of maintaining voltage stability is done by switching various controllers scattered all over the network.

PEV Load and Its Impact on Static Voltage Stability

2014
A global resurgence of electric vehicle has taken place as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel dependent transportation. As a result, the new plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging load is emerging into power networks. Even though the environmental and economic benefits of electrified transportation are very much apparent, its impacts on power ...

A robust static voltage stability index for distribution networks

2010
In this paper, a new static voltage stability index is proposed for identifying the line or its corresponding bus on the verge of voltage collapse of distribution networks. The index is developed by using the distribution line receiving end bus voltage formulation, and its adequacy is evaluated on a modern distribution test system which has voltage ...
