On stationary and cycle-stationary sequences

Bulletin of the Brazilian Mathematical Society, 2002
Let \(Z=(Z_k)\) be a stationary sequence with a state space \((E, {\mathcal E})\). Let \(A\in {\mathcal E}\) be such a set that the events \(\{Z_n\in A\}\) occur infinitely many times for both negative and positive \(n\). The times \(n\) when the events occur are called points. The points split the process into a two-sided sequence of cycles.

STATIONARY DEFAULT EXTENSIONS

Fundamenta Informaticae, 1994
Default logic, introduced by Reiter proved to be an important non- monotonic formalism with applications extending over a variety of areas. In particular, default logic is closely related to logic programming. In this paper we introduce the class of so called stationary extensions of a default theory.

Stationary Waves on the Sphere

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2015
This paper deals with a reaction-diffusion equation on a unit sphere \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t} = D \nabla_S^2 u + \Psi (u,\sigma) \eqno (1) \] where \[ \nabla_S^2 := \frac{1}{\sin x} \frac{ \partial}{\partial x} (\sin x \frac{\partial}{\partial x}) = \frac{\partial^2}{\partial x^2} + \cot x \frac{\partial}{\partial x}, \] \(D > 0\) and \(\Psi (u,

On Stationary Processes in the Plane

Biometrika, 1954
Abstract The sampling theory of stationary processes in space is not completely analogous to that of stationary time series, due to the fact that the variate of a time series is influenced only by past values, while for a spatial process dependence extends in all directions. This point is elaborated in §§ 2-4.

The stationary and non-stationary wind profile

pure and applied geophysics, 1965
A method is presented which permits the separation of the non-stationary part of the wind profile from the stationary or smoothed profile. Very little a priori assumption is made, thus, the results can be considered to render information of general purpose.

STATIONARY TYPES IN MODULESS

Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1983
The author calls the (stable) theory T (weakly) stationary if every (nonalgebraic) 1-type over any set is stationary. He gives a (rather technical) characterization of those totally transcendental modules M which are (weakly) stationary (i.e. whose theories are weakly stationary). A corollary is that if the totally transcendental module M is stationary

Moments for stationary and quasi-stationary distributions of markov chains

Journal of Applied Probability, 1985
A necessary and sufficient set of conditions is given for the finiteness of a general moment of the R -invariant measure of an R -recurrent substochastic matrix. The conditions are conceptually related to Foster's theorem. The result extends that of [8], and is illustratively applied to the single and multitype subcritical Galton–Watson process to find

Stationary-to-stationary solutions in relativity theory

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1975
Stationary axially symmetric solutions claimed to be original by Kloster, Som and Das (1974) are in fact known. A technique for derivation of the class of solutions is given.
