Asymptotics of the contour of the stationary phase and efficient evaluation of the Mellin-Barnes integral for the F_3 structure function

open access: yes, 2018
A new approximation is proposed for the contour of the stationary phase of the Mellin--Barnes integrals in the case of its finite asymptotic behavior as ${\rm Re} z\to -\infty$.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Deciphering the Enigmatic Function of Pseudomonas Metallothioneins

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Metallothioneins (MTs) are low molecular weight, Cys-rich proteins that sequester both essential and non-essential metal ions. Despite being highly conserved in the Pseudomonas genus of Gram-negative bacteria, knowledge of their physiological function in

Pattern phase diagram for 2D arrays of coupled limit-cycle oscillators

open access: yes, 2015
Arrays of coupled limit-cycle oscillators represent a paradigmatic example for studying synchronization and pattern formation. They are also of direct relevance in the context of currently emerging experiments on nano- and optomechanical oscillator ...

Fluctuation theorem for constrained equilibrium systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss the fluctuation properties of equilibrium chaotic systems with constraints such as iso-kinetic and Nos\'e-Hoover thermostats. Although the dynamics of these systems does not typically preserve phase-space volumes, the average phase-space ...

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Haemophilus ducreyi Hfq Contributes to Virulence Gene Regulation as Cells Enter Stationary Phase

open access: yesmBio, 2014
To adapt to stresses encountered in stationary phase, Gram-negative bacteria utilize the alternative sigma factor RpoS. However, some species lack RpoS; thus, it is unclear how stationary-phase adaptation is regulated in these organisms.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Phase Dynamics of Nearly Stationary Patterns in Activator-Inhibitor Systems

open access: yes, 2000
The slow dynamics of nearly stationary patterns in a FitzHugh-Nagumo model are studied using a phase dynamics approach. A Cross-Newell phase equation describing slow and weak modulations of periodic stationary solutions is derived. The derivation applies
