On the Mechanism of Stationary Phase Retention in Rotating Coil Columns

Journal of Liquid Chromatography & Related Technologies, 1996
A hypothesis of the mechanism of the retention of one (stationary) phase of a two-phase liquid system in a rotating coil column has been proposed. The balance of forces of different nature acting on the stationary phase retained in the coil column has been considered.

Retention of retinoids on an aromatic stationary phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography

Chromatographia, 1993
The retention behaviour of retinoids, which are π-electron containing solutes, on a phenyl stationary phase was studied using mobile phases consisting of aqueous methanol (MeOH; 76–84 % v/v) and acetonitrile (ACN; 60–82% v/v) at five temperatures (40–60°C). Retention was increasingly affected in both mobile phases by temperature and molecular structure

Retention of stevioside polar compounds on a sulfonic acid-functionalized stationary phase

Journal of Chromatography A, 2020
To explore the retention and separation of stevioside polar compounds on a sulfonic acid-functionalized cation exchange column, the effects of different organic solvent-water mobile phases on the retention behavior of polar rebaudioside A (RA) and its analogues on the column were investigated over a wide range of organic solvent contents.

Application of phenyl-based stationary phases for the study of retention and separation of oligonucleotides

Journal of Chromatography B, 2017
The main goal of our work was to apply three different phenyl-bonded stationary phases in ion pair chromatography for the analysis of synthetic oligonucleotides of various sequences. The influence of the stationary phase structure and the impact of ion-pairing reagent concentration on the retention of oligonucleotides were tested.

Retention of opioids and their glucuronides on a combined zwitterion and hydrophilic interaction stationary phase

Journal of Chromatography A, 2008
A stationary phase combining zwitterionic ion chromatography and hydrophilic interaction chromatography (ZIC-HILIC) from SeQuant was evaluated for the chromatography of some opiates and their polar metabolites. The effects of mobile phase constitution on retention and resolution were extensively evaluated. Different aspects of mobile phase constitution

Riboflavin binding protein—Chiral stationary phase: Investigation of retention mechanism

Chromatographia, 2002
The chiral recognition mechanism of Riboflavin Binding Protein (RfBP) stationary phase has been investigated by studying the influence of temperature on the retention process.

Gas chromatographic retention of alkyl phosphates on ionic liquid stationary phases

Journal of Chromatography A, 2013
Retention behaviors of alkyl phosophates were studied on a series of ionic liquid gas chromatography columns. The selectivity of the IL columns for alkyl phosphates were compared with a 5% phenyl column as a route to evaluating the potential use of IL columns in the analysis of alkyl phosphates in petroleum samples in both one- and multi-dimensional GC.

Retention behavior of estrogen metabolites on hydrophilic interaction chromatography stationary phases

Journal of Separation Science, 2010
AbstractEstrogens and estrogen metabolites are important biological mediators of the endocrine system. They have also been implicated in detrimental carcinogenesis and beneficial neuroprotective processes. The retention behavior of estrogen metabolites was investigated on five polar stationary phases, used for hydrophilic interaction chromatography ...

Retention and Separation of Adenosine and Analogues by Affinity Chromatography with an Aptamer Stationary Phase

Analytical Chemistry, 2001
A biotinylated-DNA aptamer (molecular weight 16,600) that binds adenosine and related compounds in solution was immobilized by reaction with streptavidin, which had been covalently attached to porous chromatographic supports. The aptamer medium was packed into fused-silica capillaries (50-150-microm i.d.) to form affinity chromatography columns ...

Retention of long-chain acetylenic hydrocarbons on non-polar stationary phases

Journal of Chromatography A, 2009
The retention indices of methyl and trimethylsilyl esters of octadeca-, eicosa- and tricosa-ynoic fatty acids containing acetylenic bonds were measured on non-polar stationary phase (dimethylsilicone with 5% phenyl groups). An unusually large increase in retention is observed for compounds containing conjugated and methylene interrupted acetylenic ...
