The theory and application of non-stationary and deep Gaussian processes in regression problems

open access: yes
The focus of this work is the convergence of non-stationary and deep Gaussian process regression. More precisely, we follow a Bayesian approach to regression or interpolation, where the prior placed on the unknown function f is a non-stationary or deep

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...

Study on Relay Contact Bounce Based on the Adaptive Weight Rotation Template Matching Algorithm

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In order to analyze the relay action process from an imaging perspective and further investigate the bounce phenomenon of relay contacts during the contact process, this paper utilizes a high-speed shooting platform to capture images of relay action.

Orbital‐Hybridizable Nanoseed Interphase Enables One‐Minute Rechargeable, Energy‐Dense Anode‐Free Aqueous Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An orbital‐hybridizable nanoseed (OHNS) interphase induces strong orbital hybridization between Zn and carbon edges, accelerating Zn nucleation while suppressing 2D surface diffusion. This interfacial electronic regulation drives uniform, dense, and (002)‐oriented Zn growth, enabling stable and fast charging behavior in anode‐free aqueous Zn batteries.

On Truncation of the Matrix-Geometric Stationary Distributions

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, we study queueing systems with an infinite and finite number of waiting places that can be modeled by a Quasi-Birth-and-Death process. We derive the conditions under which the stationary distribution for a loss system is a truncation of ...

Weaving Intelligence: Thermally Drawn Multimaterial Fibers Toward AI‐Enabled Smart Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally drawn multimaterial fibers are rapidly advancing as intelligent structural units for next‐generation smart textiles. Integrating multimaterial architectures with neuromorphic and spiking‐neural‐network principles enables fabrics that can sense, compute, and adapt autonomously.

On the Prediction of Non-Stationary Processes

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1967
Summary We consider the problem of linear least-squares prediction for a class of non-stationary processes which possess “evolutionary spectral representations”. It is shown that, under certain conditions, such processes admit moving-average representations in terms of time-dependent coefficients.

Construction and Stationary Distribution of the Fleming-Viot Process with Viability Selection [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides an explicit construction of the Fleming-Viot process with viability selection in a Bayesian nonparametric framework, and derives its stationary distribution. The measure-valued diffusion is obtained as the infinite population limit of
