Fourier Mass Lower Bounds for Batchelor‐Regime Passive Scalars

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Batchelor predicted that a passive scalar ψν$\psi ^\nu$ with diffusivity ν$\nu$, advected by a smooth fluid velocity, should typically have Fourier mass distributed as |ψ̂ν|2(k)≈|k|−d$|\widehat{\psi }^\nu |^2(k) \approx |k|^{-d}$ for |k|≪ν−1/2$|k| \ll \nu ^{-1/2}$.

Quenching the Hubbard Model: Comparison of Nonequilibrium Green's Function Methods

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We benchmark nonequilibrium Green's function (NEGF) approaches for interaction quenches in the half‐filled Fermi–Hubbard model in one and two dimensions. We compare fully self‐consistent two‐time Kadanoff–Baym equations (KBE), the generalized Kadanoff–Baym ansatz (GKBA), and the recently developed NEGF‐based quantum fluctuations approach (NEGF‐

Far-From-Equilibrium Time Evolution between Two Gamma Distributions

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Many systems in nature and laboratories are far from equilibrium and exhibit significant fluctuations, invalidating the key assumptions of small fluctuations and short memory time in or near equilibrium.

A perspective review of applications of the computed tomography (CT) scan imaging technique for microscopic reservoir rock characterization

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this review, the application of micro‐CT and medical‐CT scanning in the oil and gas industry has been thoroughly discussed. Recent improvements in DRP and modern imaging techniques in the oil and gas industry have been modeled using both experimental and simulation work.

LÉVY-BASED ERROR PREDICTION IN CIRCULAR SYSTEMATIC SAMPLING

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2013
In the present paper, Lévy-based error prediction in circular systematic sampling is developed. A model-based statistical setting as in Hobolth and Jensen (2002) is used, but the assumption that the measurement function is Gaussian is relaxed.

Studying interspecific population synchrony: current status and future perspectives

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Interspecific population synchrony, or co‐fluctuations in the population dynamics and demographic parameters of different species, is an important ecological phenomenon with major implications for the stability of communities and ecosystems. It is also central in the context of biodiversity loss, as interspecific synchrony can influence how ecological ...

Stationary Gaussian stochastic processes

open access: yes, 2021
