General Distribution Theory of the Concomitants of Order Statistics

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1977
Let $(X_i, Y_i) (i = 1, 2, \cdots, n)$ be $n$ independent $\mathrm{rv}$'s from some bivariate distribution. If $X_{r:n}$ denotes the $r$th ordered $X$-variate, then the $Y$-variate $Y_{\lbrack r:n\rbrack}$ paired with $X_{r:n}$ is termed the concomitant of the $r$th order statistics.

EPR Paradox,Locality and Completeness of Quantum Theory

open access: yes, 2007
The quantum theory (QT) and new stochastic approaches have no deterministic prediction for a single measurement or for a single time -series of events observed for a trapped ion, electron or any other individual physical system.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Statistical Investigation of Bearing Capacity of Pile Foundation Based on Bayesian Reliability Theory

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
In order to improve the estimation accuracy of bearing capacity of pile foundation, a new forecast method of bearing capacity of pile foundation was proposed on Jeffrey’s noninformative prior using the MCMC (Markov chain Monte Carlo) method of the ...

Tsallis non-extensive statistics, intermittent turbulence, SOC and chaos in the solar plasma. Part one: Sunspot dynamics

open access: yes, 2012
In this study, the nonlinear analysis of the sunspot index is embedded in the non-extensive statistical theory of Tsallis. The triplet of Tsallis, as well as the correlation dimension and the Lyapunov exponent spectrum were estimated for the SVD ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

On Approaching Normality Through Rectangular Distribution: Industrial Applications to Monitor Electron Gun and File Server Processes

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
Normal probability distribution is central to most statistical methods and their applications. In many real scenarios, the normality of the underlying phenomenon is not obvious.

New Advances in Distribution Theory and Its Applications

open access: yesMathematics
In recent years, the prolific development of new statistical distributions via various techniques has often led to increased complexity without necessarily enhancing model flexibility or parameter interpretability, a trend that has sometimes diminished ...

Recent Developments in Network Analysis and their Applications (Invited Paper) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2015
In this paper we performed a brief survey of the recent literature on statistical analysis of networks. For instance, we reviewed contributions dealing with statistical properties of complex networks like the degree distribution, the clustering ...

The role of fluctuations across a density interface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A statistical mechanics theory for a fluid stratified in density is presented. The predicted statistical equilibrium state is the most probable outcome of turbulent stirring.
