Statistical indicator functions
Optical Engineering, 1993Statistical indicator functions are developed that evaluate 10-cal hypothesis tests to detect the location of generalized boundaries within images. Functions based on T test, F test, and nonparametric Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests are developed, and implementation strategies for use as image processing operators are presented.

Fit Indices Versus Test Statistics
Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2005Model evaluation is one of the most important aspects of structural equation modeling (SEM). Many model fit indices have been developed. It is not an exaggeration to say that nearly every publication using the SEM methodology has reported at least one fit index. Most fit indices are defined through test statistics.

Statistical population indices
Vistas in Astronomy, 1966Abstract A method is proposed for determining statistical probability of a star belonging to one of the two main population types from its position and motion.

1993
We are constantly bombarded by statistical indicators, from weather reports to election results and stock market trends. Many of these indicators govern our lives. This book demystifies the scientific or pseudo-scientific aura that surrounds indicators and shows how they can be usefully applied for practical purposes.

Statistical indicators of optimality
14th Annual Symposium on Switching and Automata Theory (swat 1973), 1973Neighborhood search has been used with some success in providing approximate solutions to discrete optimization problems. The technique produces solutions which may be locally but not globally optimal. For a particular class of problems this paper describes a method for analyzing the relative effectiveness associated with different neighborhoods in ...

Cultural statistics and indicators
Journal of Cultural Economics, 1983A UNESCO study (UNESCO, 1979) has stated that the term 'culture' eludes definition and that there is no universally accepted description of its contents; it therefore recommended an empirical approach for the Framework of Cultural Statistics (FCS) which uses existing classifications and practices to infer its statistical contents. There are, of course,

The indicator formalism in spatial statistics
Journal of Applied Statistics, 1992In this paper the indicator approach in spatial data analysis is presented for the determination of probability distributions to characterize the uncertainty about any unknown value. Such an analysis is non-parametric and is done independently of the estimate retained.

Statistically Based Air-Quality Indices
1972Oak Ridge National Laboratory is, under sponsorship of the NSF, studying the development of air quality or air pollution indices. We have examined a number of ways for combining measured information about several pollutants into a single number that reflects the overall state of the air quality within a given area.
