Mechanical and Total Pressure Statistics in Vlasov-Maxwell Plasmas
2023Pressure is an important parameter in plasma turbulence. Historically, pressure fluctuations have been studied extensively via density in the nearly incompressible (NI) magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) framework1-3. However, the statistics of mechanical and total pressure in kinetic plasmas have not been explored much. In this study, we examine the statistics

Statistical mechanics of a weakly turbulent stable plasma
Journal of Plasma Physics, 1969The statistical mechanics of the weakly turbulent plasma is treated in an original manner by introducing the waves by means of the van Kampen modes. A system of coupled equations is derived which relates the correlations between waves and waves, waves and particles, particles and particles. The quasilinear theory is obtained at the first order, and the

Statistical mechanics of the distribution of charge on particles in complex plasmas
Physica Scripta, 2010Summary: This paper presents an analytical study of the distribution of charge on the particles in a complex plasma; the study is based on statistical mechanics and ensures that the charge on the particles is an integral multiple of the electronic charge. The formulation incorporates both the number and energy balance of electrons/ions.

The electrodynamics and statistical mechanics of linear plasma response functions
Journal of Statistical Physics, 1969The purpose of this paper is to review and to extend, wherever possible, the Kramers-Kronig relations, sum rules, and symmetry properties for the electrodynamic transport tensors of a linear plasma medium. For complete generality, we consider both nonrelativistic and relativistic plasmas with and without external magnetic fields.

Statistical mechanics of classical dilute relativistic plasmas in equilibrium
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1985Within a fully relativistic framework, the thermodynamics of a classical dilute arbitrarily hot plasma in equilibrium is studied. The internal energy of the plasma is calculated to all orders in KT/mc2. The case of a one-component plasma immersed in a static background is also studied. Up to order kT/mc2 the results given previously by the authors (see

Statistical Mechanics of Collective Phenomena in Plasmas
1991Abstract : Progress was made on the statistical mechanics of the Zakharov model which describes the interaction of an electromagnetic wave with a plasma. The model leads to a nonlinear set of partial differential equations which resemble in some ways equations arising in nonlinear field theories which have been studied by statistical mechanical methods.

Recent Developments in the Statistical Mechanics of Plasmas
1966A plasma is an ionized gas at any density and temperature: for example, stellar interiors. Such a gas differs from every other gas in that each particle feels the effects of all other particles because of the infinite range of the Coulomb force acting between every pair of charged particles.

The statistical mechanics of quadratic response functions of classical plasmas
Il Nuovo Cimento B Series 11, 1971Equilibrium nonlinear fluctuation-dissipation theorems are derived from second-order statistical mechanical perturbation theory for a nonrelativistic classical electron plasma in a constant external magnetic field. The time-dependent external perturbation is specified to contain both longitudinal (with respect to the wave vector) and transverse field ...
