Field‐Programable Dynamics in a Soft Magnetic Actuator Enabling True Random Number Generation and Reservoir Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Complex dynamics, often avoided in electromechanical design, can enhance soft robotics. We develop durable magnetic soft actuators operating in tunable dynamic regimes, enabling random number generation, stochastic computing, and time‐series prediction.

Problems in particle theory. Technical report, 1992--1993

open access: yes, 1993
Areas of emphasis include acceleration algorithms for the Monte Carlo analysis of lattice field and gauge theories, quaternionic generalizations of complex quantum mechanics and field theory, application of the renormalization group to the QCD phase ...

Ising Solver Using Vertical NAND Flash Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Commercial V‐NAND flash memory is repurposed as a discrete‐time Ising solver by exploiting in‐memory current summation and read‐voltage‐controlled intrinsic noise. The system implements Hopfield neural‐network updates with simulated‐annealing‐like behavior, solving max‐cut problems with high accuracy and energy efficiency while using mass‐produced ...

Journal of Statistical Mechanics-Theory And Experiment

open access: yes, 2015
Vortex lines in type-II superconductors display complicated relaxation processes due to the intricate competition between their mutual repulsive interactions and pinning to attractive point or extended defects.

Surface Charges Guided Quasi‐TEM‐mode Microwave Propagation along Dielectric Nanowire

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
According to Maxwell's equations, a single‐conductor transmission line cannot allow TEM‐mode electromagnetic wave propagation, however, this is based upon the assumption that dielectric material is isolated from the environment. In practice, surface electrostatic charges widely existed in nano‐materials with large surface‐to‐volume ratio.

Quantum Phenomena in Molecular and Biological Systems: A Decoherence‐Based Decision Framework With Falsifiable Predictions and a Failure‐Mode Taxonomy

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
A physics‐grounded framework based on decoherence timescales (τ_dec vs τ_func), Markovian validity, and falsifiability criteria is applied across molecular systems to distinguish where quantum effects are necessary, marginal, or irrelevant. The analysis integrates quantum chemistry, biological quantum mechanisms, and quantum computing under a unified ...

Magnetic field and current are zero inside ideal conductors

open access: yes, 2011
We prove a theorem on the magnetic energy minimum in a system of perfect, or ideal, conductors. It is analogous to Thomson's theorem on the equilibrium electric field and charge distribution in a system of conductors.

Effective-temperature concept: a physical application for nonextensive statistical mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The H-theorem [(df/dt) ≤ 0] for a free-energy functional, f = u-θs (with u and s representing, respectively, the internal energy and a generalized entropy of a given physical system), has been proven previously by making use of a nonlinear Fokker-Planck ...

Recent Advances in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Integrated Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This review systematically surveys recent advances in stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) within integrated photonics. It begins by elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of stimulated coupling between photons and acoustic phonons in nanoscale waveguides, enhanced by the photoelastic and moving boundary effects.
