Federated Learning Based on Kernel Local Differential Privacy and Low Gradient Sampling
Federated learning that is an approach to addressing the “data silo” problem in a collaborative fashion may face the risk of data leakage in real-world contexts.

Music Genre and Emotion Recognition Using Gaussian Processes
Gaussian Processes (GPs) are Bayesian nonparametric models that are becoming more and more popular for their superior capabilities to capture highly nonlinear data relationships in various tasks, such as dimensionality reduction, time series analysis ...

An object oriented statistical metadata model is presented, which can be used in building information systems providing metadata-guided, statistical data processing features. The semantics of the model are analyzed and a set of operators (transformations) is proposed that allows for the automatic manipulation of both data and metadata at the same time.

Why estimands are needed to define treatment effects in clinical trials
Background The estimand for a clinical trial is a precise definition of the treatment effect to be estimated. Traditionally, estimates of treatment effects are based on either an ITT analysis or a per-protocol analysis.

Observation-based correction of dynamical models using thermostats [PDF]
Models used in simulation may give accurate short-term trajectories but distort long-term (statistical) properties. In this work, we augment a given approximate model with a control law (a ‘thermostat’) that gently perturbs the dynamical system to target

Penalized Exponentially Tilted Likelihood for Growing Dimensional Models with Missing Data
This paper develops a penalized exponentially tilted (ET) likelihood to simultaneously estimate unknown parameters and select variables for growing dimensional models with missing response at random.

Establishing statistical foundations early : data modeling with young learners [PDF]
This paper addresses research from a three-year longitudinal study that engaged children in data modeling experiences from the beginning school year through to third year (6-8 years). A data modeling approach to statistical development differs in several

The effects of clinical and statistical heterogeneity on the predictive values of results from meta-analyses [PDF]
Variance between studies in a meta-analysis will exist. This heterogeneity may be of clinical, methodological or statistical origin. The last of these is quantified by the I(2) -statistic. We investigated, using simulated studies, the accuracy of I(2) in

ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Analysis and achievement for fractional optimal control of Hepatitis B with Caputo operator
Deciphering the effect of long memory on dynamic behavior is important for controlling disease transmission. Employing fractional order calculus, here, we propose a model with Caputo operator to emphasize the regulation effect of the long memory on the ...
