Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Statistical Methods for Investigating the Cosmic Ray Energy Spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Two separate statistical tests are described and developed in order to test un-binned data sets for adherence to the power-law form. The first test employs the TP-statistic, a function defined to deviate from zero when the sample deviates from the power-law form, regardless of the value of the power index.

Effect size and statistical power in the rodent fear conditioning literature – A systematic review

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2017
Proposals to increase research reproducibility frequently call for focusing on effect sizes instead of p values, as well as for increasing the statistical power of experiments.

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Normrank Correlations for Testing Associations and for Use in Latent Variable Models

open access: yesOpen Education Studies
Pearson’s correlation is widely used to test for an association between two variables and also forms the basis of several multivariate statistical procedures including many latent variable models. Spearman’s ρ\rho is a popular alternative.

OPTIMAL SAMPLE SIZE FOR STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF WINTER WHEAT QUANTITATIVE TRAITS [PDF]

open access: yesPoljoprivreda, 2009
In the planning phase of every research particular attention should be dedicated to estimation of optimal sample size, aiming to obtain more precise and objective results of statistical analysis.

Power-law tails in triple system decay statistics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We have investigated the decay statistics of triple systems with different masses in Newtonial dynamics. We demonstrate that in a broad interval of mass ratios this statistics has good approximation by power-law tails. The power indices do not show any significant dependence on mass ratios.

Statistical power to detect violation of the proportional hazards assumption when using the Cox regression model

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2017
The use of the Cox proportional hazards regression model is wide-spread. A key assumption of the model is that of proportional hazards. Analysts frequently test the validity of this assumption using statistical significance testing.

Tryptophan‐sensing receptor GPR142 expression levels are directly regulated by proinflammatory cytokines in ghrelin‐producing cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Power Estimation in Multivariate Analysis of Variance [PDF]

open access: yesTutorials in Quantitative Methods for Psychology, 2007
Power is often overlooked in designing multivariate studies for the simple reason that it is believed to be too complicated. In this paper, it is shown that power estimation in multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) can be approximated using a F ...
