Statistical quality control in services
International Journal of Services Technology and Management, 2004This paper argues that the under-utilisation of statistical quality control techniques in the service industry results from an incomplete conceptualisation of service quality. A systems framework for service process quality is proposed and used to diffuse popular arguments against the use of statistical quality control in services.

Statistics with fuzzy data in statistical quality control
Soft Computing, 2007Statistical quality control (SQC) is an important field where both theory of probability and theory of fuzzy sets may be used. In the paper we give a short overview of basic problems of SQC that have been solved using both these theories simultaneously. Some new results on the applications of fuzzy sets in SQC are presented in details.

When producing components or products in quantity it is essential that a balance should be struck between the highest attainable accuracy and the cost of production. There is no particular merit in making components to a closer dimensional tolerance than is demanded by the functional requirements during the expected life of the part.

Journal of the Staple Inn Actuarial Society, 1945
The actuary's ideas on statistics tend to be biased in the direction of Life Office statistics. It may therefore be useful to set down a simple use of statistical methods which has been adopted in industry and which was the subject of a lecture to the Students' Society some two years ago, viz. Statistical Quality Control.

The general objective of statistical quality control (SQC) is to make a statement about the quality of multiple items in an efficient way by only assessing a sample of them. This chapter covers aspects of QM and SQC that are needed as a foundation for the actual contribution of the book.

Quality control deals with the subject matter of assurances and testing for failure of the products or services in the manufacturing processes. An important tool is control chart. Several types of control charts and their uses are explained. In each chart, control lines showing Upper Control Limit (UCL), Centerline (CL), and Lower Control Limit (LCL ...
