Statistical Seismology Science Gateway
2014Seismic hazard assessment and risk analysis are critical for human life since these fields study and model expected earthquakes to produce seismic hazard maps and to determine the risk of damage from potential earthquakes to buildings, dams, etc. The Statistical Seismology Science Gateway, built on the gUSE framework, holds a comprehensive set of tools

Foundations of Statistical Seismology
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2010A brief account is given of the principles of stochastic modelling in seismology, with special regard to the role and development of stochastic models for seismicity. Stochastic models are seen as arising in a hierarchy of roles in seismology, as in other scientific disciplines.

The marriage of statistics and seismology
Journal of Applied Probability, 2001Daryl Daley has kindly invited me to write some prefatory words, autobiographical in character, to the collection of articles which follows. I am very happy to do this, but first let me express my appreciation of the efforts which Daryl, Peter Thomson, and the contributors have put into the making of this volume.

Providing unified data delivery statistics service from european seismological data centers
2023     Data delivery statistics is one of the classical key performance indicators for a large variety of usages : providing insight of data usage to founders, to seismological network managers, to data management centre operational teams.EIDA is the European Integrated Data Infrastructure from the Orfeus project, federating 12

The development of statistical seismology: A personal experience
Tectonophysics, 2006Abstract An account is given of the author's experiences in the development of statistical seismology as a tool for the description, understanding, and forecasting of earthquakes. The discussion is focussed on the formulation and use of stochastic models for earthquake occurrence.

Investigation of statistical seismology in Thailand-Laos-Myanmar borders
2023The purpose of this research is to understand more about the statistical seismology of the Thailand-Laos-Myanmar border in order to monitor earthquake activity and locate potentially dangerous area. The seismicity data was collected from the Thailand Meteorological Department.

The statistical study of precursory anomalies observed in Chinese Seismological Network
Acta Seismologica Sinica, 1998By using the precursory anomalies at fixed seismological stations or observational points in China, which are obtained every year from the Assembly of National Seismologic Consideration (ANSC) from 1988 to 1996, to study the relationship between the anomalies in a certain year and the earthquakes occurring in the Chinese mainland in the next year ...

Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2018
The time variation of several statistical parameters describing the complex time dynamics of the seismicity of Azerbaijan from 2010 to 2016 is investigated. Besides the well-known Gutenberg-Richter b value and the coefficients of variation, two quantities, derived by the recent method of horizontal visibility graph are analysed, namely the mean ...

Some Statistical Models for Seismological Discrimination
1975Seismological discrimination between earthquakes and explosions is generally based on a comparison of two seismic magnitudes. More or less detailed models of the statistical distribution of these are used and lead to somewhat different discrimination procedures.
