Normalization and analysis of DNA microarray data by self-consistency and local regression

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2002
BackgroundWith the advent of DNA hybridization microarrays comes the remarkable ability, in principle, to simultaneously monitor the expression levels of thousands of genes.

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

Self-consistent field model simulations for statistics of amorphous polymer chains in crystalline lamellar structures [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
We calculate statistical properties of amorphous polymer chains between crystalline lamellae by self-consistent field model simulations. In our model, an amorphous subchain is modelled as a polymer chain of which ends are grafted onto the crystal-amorphous interfaces. The crystal-amorphous interfaces are expressed as impenetrable surfaces.

Parity violation and the mean field approximation for the anyon gas

open access: yes, 1993
We examine an approach to justifying the mean field approximation for the anyon gas, using the scattering of anyons. Parity violation permits a nonzero average scattering angle, from which one can extract a mean radius of curvature for anyons. If this is

Is social decision making for close others consistent across domains and within individuals? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Humans make decisions across a variety of social contexts. Though social decision-making research has blossomed in recent decades, surprisingly little is known about whether social decision-making preferences are consistent across different domains.

The MedSupport Multilevel Intervention to Enhance Support for Pediatric Medication Adherence: Development and Feasibility Testing

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

Scaling for level statistics from self-consistent theory of localization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2014
Accepting validity of self-consistent theory of localization by Vollhardt and Woelfle, we derive the relations of finite-size scaling for different parameters characterizing the level statistics. The obtained results are compared with the extensive numerical material for space dimensions d=2,3,4.

Phase Diagram for Ultracold Bosons in Optical Lattices and Superlattices

open access: yes, 2004
We present an analytic description of the finite-temperature phase diagram of the Bose-Hubbard model, successfully describing the physics of cold bosonic atoms trapped in optical lattices and superlattices.
