Wilks’ dissimilarity for gene clustering: computational issues
Clustering methods are widely used in the analysis of gene expression data for their ability to uncover coordinated expression profiles. One important goal of clustering is to discover co–regulated genes because it has been postulated that co–regulation ...

A Note on the Generalized Relativistic Diffusion Equation
We study here a generalization of the time-fractional relativistic diffusion equation based on the application of Caputo fractional derivatives of a function with respect to another function.

One-sided and two-sided nonparametric tests for heterogeneity comparisons
This work consists of an inferential procedure that allows for a solution to the problem of hypothesis testing, in which the objective is that of comparing the heterogeneity of two populations on the basis of sampling data, i.e.

RanBox: anomaly detection in the copula space
The unsupervised search for overdense regions in high-dimensional feature spaces, where locally high population densities may be associated with anomalous contaminations to an otherwise more uniform population, is of relevance to applications ranging ...

Development of a new GIS-based method to detect high natural value farmlands. A case study in central Italy [PDF]
An original method for the identification of High Natural Value farmlands is presented. Gathering information about land use (CORINE Land Cover), geomorphology (elevation and Terrain Ruggedness Index) and remote sensing data in a GIS environment we were ...

Random Motions at Finite Velocity on Non-Euclidean Spaces
In this paper, random motions at finite velocity on the Poincaré half-plane and on the unit-radius sphere are studied. The moving particle at each Poisson event chooses a uniformly distributed direction independent of the previous evolution. This implies

Two Approaches to Imputation and Adjustment of Air Quality Data from a Composite Monitoring Network [PDF]
An analysis of air quality data is provided for the municipal area of Taranto characterized by high environmental risks, due to the massive presence of industrial sites with elevated environmental impact activities.

An Uncertainty Based Approach for Dealing With Selection Bias in Non‐Probability Samples
Summary The main issue with non‐probability samples is that the standard design‐based approach cannot be applied as the selection mechanism is unknown. In this paper, the concept of uncertainty on data generating model, resulting from the lack of knowledge of the sampling design acting in the non‐probability sample, is discussed.
