Cosmic statistics of statistics [PDF]
The errors on statistics measured in finite galaxy catalogs are exhaustively investigated. The theory of errors on factorial moments by Szapudi & Colombi (1996) is applied to cumulants via a series expansion method. All results are subsequently extended to the weakly non-linear regime.

Nonabelian braid statistics versus projective permutation statistics [PDF]
Recent papers by Finkelstein, Galiautdinov, and coworkers {[J. Math. Phys. 42, 1489, 3299 (2001)]} discuss a suggestion by Wilczek that nonabelian projective representations of the permutation group can be used as a new type of particle statistics, valid

Statistics is a science that provides precise techniques for collecting and sorting information made easy by tools and methods for further analysis. The object of descriptive statistics, from sample data, is to describe the most important characteristics, by which we refer to those amounts that provide information on the topic of interest which we are ...

Assessment of public perception of radioactivity in Brazil
Nuclear energy divides public opinion with its “good” and “bad” applications. Almost immediately after the discovery of radiation, radioactive elements purified by the Curies were used in health treatments, but with the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and ...

In the case of Regina v. Adams [1996], DNA evidence seemed to suggest that there was a 1 in 200 million chance that an innocent person would match the DNA found at the crime scene. Peter Donnelly explains how he subsequently became involved in the case and found himself trying to explain Bayes' theorem to judge and jury. (See p.18 for an explanation).

The security of code-based cryptography relies primarily on the hardness of generic decoding with linear codes. The best generic decoding algorithms are all improvements of an old algorithm due to Prange: they are known under the name of information set decoding techniques (ISD).

How tariffs are conceptually reflected in key economic statistics
The effects of tariffs on Canadian exports or on imports into Canada will, over time (as they affect economic activities), be reflected in various statistical estimates published by Statistic Canada.
