ABSTRACT Background Adult survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of reduced exercise capacity, decreased physical activity levels, persistent fatigue, and neurocognitive deficits. The aim was to investigate exercise capacity and physical activity levels of adult survivors of childhood ALL and their associations with ...

A Statistical Theory of Remnants
SUMMARY In certain manufacturing processes where varying lengths of material are produced and subsequently cut up into unit lengths the problem of loss from wasted material arises. In this paper we postulate a statistical model of such a process and study how and in what sense we may minimize this loss.

ABSTRACT Background Graft‐versus‐host disease (GvHD) remains one of the most significant complications of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Abatacept, a selective T‐cell costimulation modulator, is a relatively novel prophylactic agent, though pediatric data remain limited.

Queueing Systems with Unstable Service Units as Mathematical Models of Hybrid Energy Systems
The growing number of electronic devices and the development of distributed computing systems make the problem of energy shortages relevant. At the same time, there is a global trend towards a transition to renewable energy, which, although it ...

Convexity and robustness of the Rényi entropy
We study convexity properties of the Rényi entropy as function of $\alpha >0$ on finite alphabets. We also describe robustness of the Rényi entropy on finite alphabets, and it turns out that the rate of respective convergence depends on initial alphabet.

ABSTRACT Background Outcomes in relapsed or refractory pediatric and AYA bone sarcomas remain poor, and the impact of early referral to specialized sarcoma centers on survival is unclear. Early centralization of care may improve local and systemic treatment quality, but evidence in this population is limited.

A Statistical Theory of Calibration
The kind of calibration problem considered may be roughly described as follows: There are two related quantities $\mathscr{U}$ and $\mathscr{V}$ such that $\mathscr{U}$ is relatively easy to measure and $\mathscr{V}$ relatively difficult, requiring more effort or expense; furthermore the error in a measurement of $\mathscr{V}$ is negligible compared ...
