Minimum Mean Deviation from the Steady-State Condition in Queueing Theory

2003
For frequent cases when random perturbations alter the steady-state condition of a queueing system, the paper proposes corrections by constructing new probability distributions for the number of arrivals, interarrival time, or/and service time by minimizing the mean chi-square deviation from the corresponding steady-state probability distributions ...

Deviations from minimum entropy production at steady states of reacting chemical systems arbitrarily close to equilibrium

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1988
Abstract Our analysis of reacting systems displaced from equilibrium by a matter flux across the boundaries has shown that the state of minimum entropy production differs from the steady state, even in the near equilibrium regime. When the displacement δ from equilibrium is small, the derivative of the dissipation at the steady state and the ...

Indications of linearity deviations of steady-state concentration profiles in hydrogen permeation membranes

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 1995
Abstract In the course of studies of permeation of electrolytically generated hydrogen through membranes of palladium and the palladium alloy Pd77Ag23, further observations have been made of steady-state permeation rate accelerations on interruption of electrolysis.

A clarifying note on converting to log-deviations from the steady state [PDF]

open access: possibleEconomics Bulletin, 2008
The paper discusses the mathematical background and several alternative strategies of converting equations as typically found in dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models into log-deviations from the steady state form. Guidance is provided on when to use which computational strategy.

A steady state voltage monitoring and control algorithm using localized least square minimization of load voltage deviations

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1996
This paper describes recent work on the theoretical and algorithmic enhancements of the MIT method for power system steady-state voltage monitoring and control. Under the conditions that no dynamic voltage problems are present, the method is intended primarily: to monitor steady-state voltage and reactive power conditions; to identify potential problem

Effects of gravity on the steady state of a reaction in a liquid-state microreactor—deviations from Poiseuille flow

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2003
We have simulated the steady state of a stoichiometric neutralisation reaction in a capillary flow reactor. The reactive flow occurs in an upright capillary tube with coaxial inlets in its base, an open top and with adiabatic sidewalls. A dilute solution of 0.100 M alkali or acid is injected vertically upwards through the central inlet.
