Dynamical fluctuations for periodically driven diffusions

open access: yes, 2010
We study dynamical fluctuations in overdamped diffusion processes driven by time periodic forces. This is done by studying fluctuation functionals (rate functions from large deviation theory), of fluctuations around the non-equilibrium steady regime.

Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Improving Performance of Affine Projection–Like Algorithm Using Two Combination Methods

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics
The affine projection–like (APL) algorithm has garnered significant attention due to its low steady-state mean-square deviation and simplicity. However, its performance is limited by a fixed step-size, which forces a trade-off between fast convergence ...

A Virtual Synchronous Generator Control Strategy Based on Transient Damping Compensation and Virtual Inertia Adaptation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To mitigate the challenges posed by transient oscillations and steady-state deviations in the traditional virtual synchronous generator (TVSG) that is subjected to active power and grid frequency disturbances, a VSG control strategy based on Transient ...

A Detailed Fluctuation Theorem for Heat Fluxes in Harmonic Networks out of Thermal Equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We continue the investigation, started in [J. Stat. Phys. 166, 926-1015 (2017)], of a network of harmonic oscillators driven out of thermal equilibrium by heat reservoirs. We study the statistics of the fluctuations of the heat fluxes flowing between the

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

A Transient Damping Improvement Strategy for Enhancing Grid-Connected Active Power Response Performance of VSG

open access: yesEnergies
The given power and grid frequency disturbances can cause transient oscillations and steady-state deviations in the output power of a virtual synchronous generator (VSG), which can be effectively addressed by adding transient damping.

Large deviations for the density and current in non-equilibrium-steady-states on disordered rings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment, 2019
The so-called 'Level 2.5' general result for the large deviations of the joint probability of the density and of the currents for Markov Jump processes is applied to the case of $N$ independent particles on a ring with random transition rates. We first focus on the Directed Trap model, where the contractions needed to obtain the large deviations ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
