Operation of Transmission Lines at Steady-State
2020For the calculation of tensions and currents, at the beginning and the end of transmission lines (TLs), in steady-state, it is necessary to develop models that represent TLs. These models are obtained for short-length, medium-length, and long-length TLs. In practice, all real circuits are distributed parameters.

Towards steady state tokamak operation with double transport barriers
Nuclear Fusion, 1999Core confinement and the overall performance of the tokamak have been considerably enhanced with the combination of two improved confinement regimes. Internal transport barriers characteristic of the optimized shear regime and an edge transport barrier of the high confinement H mode regime have been superposed in the double barrier (DB) mode.

Progress Toward Steady-State Operation on Tore Supra
Plasma Science and Technology, 2004Important technological and physics issues related to steady-state operation required for next step are being examined on Tore Supra, after a major upgrade of internal components in order to increase the heat extraction capability to 25 MW for 1000 s. Here, we show first experimental results, where all the plasma facing components were actively cooled ...

Diagnostics and steady-state high power operation
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2003TORE SUPRA has now been upgraded to handle high power plasmas for very long duration. It came back into operation in 2001, and the goals are to extend the performances, in power and in duration, to be expressed in terms of energy. The design is such that a plasma discharge of 25 MW during 1000 s could be sustained, with actively cooled components in a ...

The multiple dual mode (MDM) counter-current chromatography (CCC) separation consists of a succession of two isocratic counter-current steps and is carried out in series alternating between normal phase and reversed phase operation. The performance of the MDM technique can be improved by the sample re-injection between each of the dual-mode steps.

Optimal strategies for steady state heat exchanger operation
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2004Two procedures for deriving the optimal steady state operation of heat exchangers are presented. The first procedure, which is based on calculus of variations, can be used in case the optimization criterion is minimum entropy generation. The second procedure can be used in principle for any optimization criterion.

Non-Steady State Operation of Trickle-Bed Reactors
2001A review with 12 refs.; in this contribution we discuss the opportunities of pulsing flow and a cycled liq. feed strategy, both resulting in a non-steady state behavior of the trickle-bed reactor. The focus is on the hydrodynamics and its effect on catalytic reactions is evaluated.
