Limitations to photosynthesis by proton motive force-induced photosystem II photodamage

open access: yeseLife, 2016
The thylakoid proton motive force (pmf) generated during photosynthesis is the essential driving force for ATP production; it is also a central regulator of light capture and electron transfer.

Oxygen Requirement and Inhibition of C4 Photosynthesis . An Analysis of C4 Plants Deficient in the C3 and C4 Cycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The basis for O2 sensitivity of C4 photosynthesis was evaluated using a C4-cycle-limited mutant of Amaranthus edulis (a phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase-deficient mutant), and a C3-cycle-limited transformant of Flaveria bidentis (an antisense ribulose-1,5-

Steady-State Effects of 2,5,2′,5′-Tetrachlorobiphenyl on Growth, Photosynthesis, and P Uptake in Selenastrum capricornutum [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988
The steady-state effect of 2,5,2′,5′-tetrachlorobiphenyl (TCBP) on the green alga Selenastrum capricornutum was investigated in a P-limited two-stage chemostat system. The partition coefficient of this polychlorinated biphenyl congener was 5.9 × 10 4 in steady-state cultures.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Artifleck: The Study of Artifactual Responses to Light Flecks with Inappropriate Leaves

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Methods in sunfleck research commonly employ the use of experimental leaves which were constructed in homogeneous light. These experimental organs may behave unnaturally when they are challenged with fluctuating light.

Rate of photosynthetic induction in fluctuating light varies widely among genotypes of wheat. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Crop photosynthesis and yield are limited by slow photosynthetic induction in sunflecks. We quantified variation in induction kinetics across diverse genotypes of wheat for the first time.

Intracompartmental and Intercompartmental Transcriptional Networks Coordinate the Expression of Genes for Organellar Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Genes for mitochondrial and chloroplast proteins are distributed between the nuclear and organellar genomes. Organelle biogenesis and metabolism, therefore, require appropriate coordination of gene expression in the different compartments to ensure ...
