Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Flow-Induced Vibrations of a Square Cylinder in the Combined Steady and Oscillatory Flow

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The paper presents a two-dimensional RANS–SST k–ω investigation of vortex-induced vibration of a square cylinder with two degrees of freedom under combined steady and oscillatory flow at the Reynolds number of 5000, Keulegan–Carpenter number of 10, mass ...

Control of Rotor-Blade Coupled Vibrations Using Shaft-Based Actuation

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2006
When implementing active control into bladed rotating machines aiming at reducing blade vibrations, it can be shown that blade as well as rotor vibrations can in fact be controlled by the use of only shaft-based actuation.

Fast Computation of Steady-State Response for Nonlinear Vibrations of High-Degree-of-Freedom Systems

open access: yes, 2018
We discuss an integral equation approach that enables fast computation of the response of nonlinear multi-degree-of-freedom mechanical systems under periodic and quasi-periodic external excitation.

On the Steady State Motion of Electro-Magnetic Vibrator

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1959
In vibratory machineries electro-magnetic vibrators are frequently used as the source of vibration. These vibrators for practical use are of moving-coil or electro-magnet type and are excited with sinusoidal or half-wave rectified current. In order to investigate the fundamental performance of vibratory machineries, the steady state motion of vibrators

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Relaxation of a qubit measured by a driven Duffing oscillator

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate the relaxation of a superconducting qubit for the case when its detector, the Josephson bifurcation amplifier, remains latched in one of its two (meta)stable states of forced vibrations.

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.
