Steady longitudinal vibrations of inhomogeneous compound plates

Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 1995
We use the perturbation method to solve the problem of steady longitudinal vibrations of compound plates made of materials with variable mechanical characteristics. We study the influence of the degree of inhomogeneity of the properties of the material on the stress state of a plate consisting of two regions.

On the steady-state transverse vibrations of a cracked plate

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1968
Abstract Using an integral formulation, the equation for a plate subjected to periodic transverse vibrations of frequency ω and containing a crack of length 2c, is solved for the Kirchhoff bending stresses. The usual inverse square root singular behavior of the stresses is recovered and may be related to that of non-vibrating cracked plate by ...

VIBRATIONS OF POWER LINES IN A STEADY WIND: III. THE FREE VIBRATIONS OF A HEAVY STRING

Canadian Journal of Research, 1936
When a long heavy wire is fastened to two supports under such a tension that it is nearly straight, the span behaves in the same manner as a stretched string, but when there is appreciable sag, standing waves form mainly in the middle portion; apart from damping, their shape is described by Hermitian polynomials, which in the case of high overtones ...
