Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 36, 4 May 2026.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Improved modeling of the steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textThe Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Process involves the injection of steam through a horizontal well and the production of heavy oil through a lower horizontal well.

Liquid–liquid equilibrium studies of n‐butane–bitumen system with application to solvent‐aided in situ bitumen recovery

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 1, Page 425-441, January 2026.
Abstract Solvent‐assisted recovery methods have gained attention as an alternative to conventional thermal methods which have significant environmental drawbacks and high greenhouse gas emissions. Solvent‐assisted recovery methods can lead to various phase equilibria, such as vapour–liquid equilibrium (VLE) and liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE), under ...

A surface-subsurface model for the tecno-economic and risk evaluation of thermal EOR projects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The global resources of unconventional oil such as heavy oil, extra-heavy oil, and bitumen are vast and are expected to play an increasingly important role in meeting the world‘s future energy needs.

Heavy oil production with energy effective steam-assisted gravity drainage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In reservoirs with extra heavy oil and bitumen, thermal methods are used to reduce the viscosity, in order to extract the oil. Steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is a thermal method where continuous steam injection is used.

Impact of Non‐Condensable Gas Selection on CO2 Mitigation and Economic Viability in Steam and Gas Push

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
In the oil sands industry of Canada, steam‐assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is a major source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily due to its reliance on combustion of natural gas for steam. Lowering the cumulative steam–oil ratio (cSOR) is crucial for reducing emissions, with steam and gas push (SAGP) emerging as a viable alternative.

Parameterized Local Reduced Order Model of Stimulated Volume Evolution in Reservoirs

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 49, Issue 10, Page 2357-2375, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Real‐time simulation of large‐scale geomechanics problems, such as hydraulic dilation stimulation, is computationally expensive as they must span multiple spatial and temporal length scales, often including nonlinearities and thermo‐hydromechanical processes.
