A Consideration on the Flow of Steam in Steam Turbines.
多段落衝動タービンの相隣れる段落に於て、前段落の羽根より流出する蒸汽の有する速度エネルギの利用問題を中心として、タービン内における蒸汽の流動を取扱つた。就中低圧部で相隣れる二つの段落の間隙が可なりあり、且両段落の平均羽根円直径に急変を與へる場合をとつて、かゝる構造の汽室内に運轉状態の如何によつて起ることあるべき蒸汽の種々の流動状態を近似的計算によつて解析した。そして如何なる設計にすればかゝる特殊構造の段落のノズル效率を増進し、且その特性を改善し得るかを論じた。

Steam drum design for direct steam generation [PDF]
For the direct steam generation in solar fields, the recirculation concept has been demonstrated in several installations. Water masses in the solar field vary during transient phases, such as passing clouds. The volume of the steam drum can serve as a buffer during such transients by taking in excess water and providing water storage.
