Mg2+ Ions as Interfacial Charge Bridges for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in Poly(Heptazine Imide)

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Mg2+ confined within poly(heptazine imide) acts as a heterogenized interfacial charge bridge capable to couple synergistically the semiconductor with Pt co‐catalysts, thus enhancing hydrogen evolution. Through water polarization and hydroxide stabilization, a dynamic Mg2+‐OHδ−‐Hδ+‐Pt motif facilitates proton transfer and overcomes interfacial electron ...

Effects of bleach on carcass postmortem microbiomes and necrophagous beetle carcass attendance and their internal microbiomes

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Forensic entomology, and potentially microbiology in the future, can be used during death investigations to corroborate an estimated time since death. Instances where products are introduced to a cadaver, either in attempt to conceal or by accident, can affect decomposition and succession of associated decomposer taxa (i.e., insects and ...

Mind(the)Plant: An expandable multimodal facility for the integrated characterization of plant behaviour

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding plant behaviour requires the integration of multiple phenotypic and physiological signals measured over time under controlled conditions. However, different plant signals are typically studied using separate experimental setups, limiting temporal alignment and integrative analyses.

Delipidisation of wool fibres and the subsequent beneficial properties of delipidised wool fibres

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Wool fibres are complex matrices of proteins and fatty acids/lipids found both internally and externally. 18‐methyleicosanoic acid (18‐MEA) is covalently bound to the surface of the fibre via a thio‐ester link, and is considered one of the most important lipids as it is responsible for the hydrophobic properties of wool fibres.

Ultra‐High‐Speed Sintering of 3.5Y‐TZP Zirconia: Time Reduction Without Compromising Translucency

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To assess, firstly, the impact of three sintering speeds on translucency and grain size of 3.5Y‐TZP zirconia (Katana HT) across clinically relevant thicknesses, and secondly, the effect of thermocycling on translucency. Materials and Methods Disc specimens were fabricated at six thicknesses (0.7–2.0 mm) and sintered using SLOW (7 h),

Description of Flavicapitulum gen. nov. and two new species of Marmoreocelis from thermal habitats in the Americas

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Three novel taxa in the Coleofasciculales were observed in hot springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States, and in the Tabaconcito thermal springs on the Rio Tabacón in Costa Rica. Flavicapitulum vaporiphilum gen. et sp. nov. was located in a supported clade with Gracilinea and Marmoreocelis.
