Thermal‐Ionic Coupling in Transpiration‐Inspired Janus Nanofiber Membranes: Synergistic Dry‐Wet Interface Engineering for Solar‐Driven Electricity Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transpiration‐inspired Janus nanofiber membrane creates a persistent dry‐wet interface that couples localized solar heating with hydration‐induced ion regulation. The asymmetric architecture sustains directional water and ion transport, suppresses salt accumulation, and enables simultaneous seawater evaporation and stable electricity generation ...

Acetylene Semi‐Hydrogenation by Photocatalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic acetylene semi‐hydrogenation is an emerging light‐driven route to polymer‐grade ethylene, offering a mild alternative to energy‐intensive thermocatalysis. By replacing H2 co‐feed with water or other proton sources, these systems can achieve high selectivity under ambient conditions.

Atmospheric Water Harvesting Through Polymer Hydrogel Sorbents: Materials Chemistry, Design Strategies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polymer‐based hydrogels have emerged as promising materials for atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) due to their high water affinity, tunable network structure, and excellent moisture adsorption‐desorption performance. Functional hydrogel systems enable efficient water capture and controlled release under low‐energy conditions, offering a sustainable ...

Site‐Specific Molecular Engineering Redirects Radical Pathways for Selective Photocatalytic Coupling of Methane to C2+ Hydrocarbons

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Site‐specific self‐assembly of alkyl thiols on Au/TiO2 enables precise modulation of interfacial electron distribution and the local microenvironment through covalent Au‐thiolate interactions. This site‐specific molecular engineering synergistically promotes surface kinetics and charge separation, suppressing ·O2−‐driven overoxidation and thereby ...

STEAM GENERATORS FOR HIGH-TEMPERATURE GAS-COOLED REACTORS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
An analytical approach and an IBM machine code were prepared for the design of gas-cooled reactor once-through steam generators for both axial-flow and cross-flow tube matrices.

Tau Aggregate Imaging and Transcriptomics of Alzheimer's Disease Brain at Different Stages of Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The protein aggregates and gene expression in the middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and somatosensory cortex (SOM) of the postmortem brains of 13 Alzheimer's disease patients were studied in detail, revealing that small hyperphosphorylated tau aggregates increase with Braak stage driven by microglial inflammation.

Portable random number generators [PDF]

open access: yes
Computers are deterministic devices, and a computer-generated random number is a contradiction in terms. As a result, computer-generated pseudorandom numbers are fraught with peril for the unwary. We summarize much that is known about the most well-known

Interfacial Salinity–Transport Matching in 3D Solar Evaporators: A Framework for Brine‐Stable Solar Interfacial Evaporation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transport‐matching framework is developed to evaluate brine‐stable 3D solar evaporators beyond evaporation rate alone. Using PVA/GNP porous evaporators as a model system, the study shows that stable brine evaporation requires balanced heat generation, liquid replenishment, salt redistribution, and vapor removal rather than maximum dry temperature or ...

Functionalization‐Mediated Synthesis of Bridge‐Coordinated Fe Atoms on MoS2 Nanosheets for PEM Water Electrolyzers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a functionalization‐mediated strategy to synthesize robust iron (Fe) atoms selectively coordinated at bridge sites on molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets. The resulting b‐Fe‐MoS2 catalyst exhibits enhanced activity and durability for the hydrogen evolution reaction in proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers compared to atop ...
