Optical Stimulation and Monitoring of the Peripheral Nervous System: Perspectives and Challenges Toward Clinical Translation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Optical neuromodulation with IR light allows stimulation of the PNS without the need for physical contact with the target nerve or without requiring any genetic modification. The clinical translation of this technique will pave the way to the development of neural interfaces for restoring sensory feedback in individuals with limb amputation.

Nonlinear response of RC column models under real earthquakes and axial loads

open access: yesGrađevinar
This paper reports on original findings from advanced HYLSER-1 seismic tests conducted on steel-reinforced concrete column models subjected to simulated low and high axial loads. The study includes a comparative analysis of steel-reinforced concrete (SRC)

Nano‐Engineered Basalt Fiber Composites With Halloysite Nanotubes: Durability and Drilling Behavior After Acidic Aging

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Schematic summary of the drilling damage and microstructural degradation mechanisms in basalt fiber‐reinforced composites after acidic aging. ABSTRACT This study investigates the drilling performance and environmental durability of basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BRC) and halloysite nanotube (HNT) modified basalt nanocomposites (BRnC) exposed to ...

Flexural behaviour of one-way slabs with stainless steel and fibre reinforced concrete under elevated temperature

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This study investigates the post-fire flexural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs, with novelty in evaluating the combined effects of reinforcement type, hybrid fibre concretes, and thermal exposure at 700 °C for two hours.

Therapeutic uses of surface electromyography for rehabilitation: An emerging tool across clinical applications

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Surface electromyography (EMG) is a noninvasive technology that detects voluntary muscle activation and has emerged as a valuable tool for neuromuscular assessment and rehabilitation. By using surface electrodes placed over targeted muscle groups, EMG enables the detection of muscle activity without the discomfort associated with invasive ...

A Review Paper on Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete

open access: yes, 2019
Generally, adding of steel fibres in concrete improves the significance of the concrete mix and it also reduces the workability of the concrete. Steel fibre reinforced concrete SFRC is a Composite material which is made up of hydraulic cements. It contains coarse and fine aggregate.

Impact of Packaging and Recycling Systems on Material Recirculation: A Stage‐Decomposition Model

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
A system‐level view emerges from decomposing recycling into four stages (participation, collection, sorting and process yield), diagnosing constraints and targeting interventions. Cumulative equivalent uses (CEUs) quantify long‐term retention, revealing marginal improvements at high baselines generate disproportionately larger gains than low‐baseline ...
