Structural control of a steel jacket platform
Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 1996This paper deals with the application of certain active and passive control mechanisms to control the dynamic response of a steel jacket platform due to wave-induced forces. The forces are estimated using the nonlinear Morison equation which provides nonlinear self-excited hydrodynamic forces.

Mechanical Properties of ITER Coil CICC Steel Jackets Production
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016ITER cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) used in the superconducting magnet system consists of a cable made of Nb3Sn or Nb-Ti strands inserted in a stainless steel tube (called jacket or conduit). Depending on the coil type, the jacket material is either made of a low carbon AISI 316LN (for toroidal field coil) and AISI 316L grade stainless steels (for ...

Experimental Study on Steel Jacket–Concrete Composite Connections
Journal of Bridge Engineering, 2017AbstractSteel–concrete composite frame bridges have larger structural stiffness, lower cost, and faster construction speed than traditional bridges because a combination of steel–concrete composite girders, concrete piers, and steel–concrete composite connections is used. In this type of composite bridge, the most important part is the connection joint

DELAYED FUZZY CONTROL OF OFFSHORE STEEL JACKET PLATFORMS
The ANZIAM Journal, 2017We study a delayed fuzzy $H_{\infty }$ control problem for an offshore platform under external wave forces. First, by considering perturbations of the masses of the platform and an active mass damper, a Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model is established. Then, by introducing time delays into the control channel, a delayed fuzzy state feedback $H_{\infty ...

DESIGN OF THE JUDY STEEL PILED JACKET STRUCTURE.
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 1996The Judy steel piled jacket structure has been lift installed over a pre-drilled template, located in Block 30/7A in the UK sector of the North Sea. The steel piled structure weighting approximately 7800t, is located in 75m of water, and supports an operating topsides load of around 19 000t.

Sliding mode control for offshore steel jacket platforms
IECON 2010 - 36th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2010This paper is concerned with sliding mode control of offshore steel jacket platforms subject to nonlinear wave-induced forces. Two sliding mode control schemes are proposed to reduce the oscillation amplitudes of the platforms. One scheme is that a conventional sliding mode controller (SMC) is designed, under the SMC the oscillation amplitudes of the ...

A new steel jacketing method for RC columns
Magazine of Concrete Research, 2009This paper introduces a new steel jacketing method for reinforced concrete (RC) columns with lap splice and evaluates its performance by a series of axial tests of concrete cylinders. At first, 45 concrete cylinders were fabricated with varying design compressive strengths of 21, 27 and 35 MPa and then part of them was jacketed with two split-steel ...
