Standard mathematical programming techniques are used for obtaining the shakedown load and stochastic shakedown load of a simply supported axisymmetric plate subjected to uniform pressure. The yield criteria of Tresca, von Mises, and Hill are all invoked.

AbstractSteel plated structures are important because they are used in large structures of vital importance for society. For the steel construction industry they are however of less importance as they are a small part of the turnover. Since the big disasters with box girder bridges more than thirty years ago very little money, public or private, has ...

A solution to the steel slab design problem provides huge savings in the steel industry. Generally, this is a combinatorial optimization problem and it is NP-complete. In this paper a dynamic programming model is presented in order to provide an elegant optimal solution for one variation of the problem.

AbstractThis paper deals with the basic principles of the production of mild steel plates in reversing plate mills. These plates are presented to the customer after shearing or gas cutting to the ordered size. The notes deal necessarily with existing British practices and combine desirablefeatures of the existing five reversing plate mills within the ...

Steel Plate Shear Walls Are Not Plate Girders
Engineering Journal, 2004Steel plate shear walls that are allowed to buckle in shear and form a diagonal tension field have been the subject of several experimental and analytical studies. In some of these studies, references are made to the physical and analytical similarities between steel plate shear walls and vertical cantilever plate girders.

This volume strives to give comprehensive information about the main aspects of the behaviour and limit states of steel plated structures. In following this objective, the volume presents a complete scientific background (profiting from the fact that the authors of the individual parts of the publication have personally been very active in the ...

Composite Plates of Concrete Slabs and Steel Plates
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1991This paper offers a set of partial differential equations designed to enable static analysis of incomplete composite plates with regard to the thickness of a steel plate. The paper also analyzes the relationship of lateral deflections among complete composite plates, incomplete composite plates, and individual plates that do not interact with regard to

A Stainless Steel Plate Prosthesis for Stapedectomy
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1969THE RESULT of stapedectomy depends essentially on the prosthesis used and its application. In order that a maximum improvement in hearing be obtained it is important that the prosthesis is firmly secured to the long process of the incus and efficiently transmits incudal vibrations.
