Cold-Formed Steel Shear Wall Using Corrugated Steel Sheathing with Slits

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2018
Recent research shows that shear walls with corrugated steel sheathing demonstrate high strength and high initial stiffness but low ductility.

Experimental Study on Steel Shear Wall with Slits

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2003
A new type of earthquake-resisting element, consisting of a steel plate shear wall with vertical slits, is introduced. In this system, the steel plate segments between the slits behave as a series of flexural links, which provide a fairly ductile response without the need for heavy stiffening of the wall.

Lateral stiffness of steel plate shear walls

Science China Technological Sciences, 2013
The steel plate shear wall system has been used in a number of buildings as an innovative lateral force resistant system. Openings often exist in the steel plate shear walls due to the various functional requirements of structures. These openings may negatively impact the lateral stiffness of steel plate shear walls. Therefore, an experimental research

STEEL SHEAR WALLS, BEHAVIOR, MODELING AND DESIGN

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
In recent years steel shear walls have become one of the more efficient lateral load resisting systems in tall buildings. The basic steel shear wall system consists of a steel plate welded to boundary steel columns and boundary steel beams. In some cases the boundary columns have been concrete‐filled steel tubes.

The wall–frame and the steel–concrete interactions in composite shear walls

The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2018
SummaryThe nonlinear pushover analyses of 24 composite steel plate shear walls (CSPSWs), 24 corresponding steel plate shear walls (SPSWs), and 24 corresponding frames are conducted. CSPSWs have different aspect ratios and infill steel plate thicknesses. The study aims to understand the wall–frame and steel–concrete interactions.

Shear Wall Resistance of Lightgage Steel Stud Wall Systems

Earthquake Spectra, 1990
Experimental investigations were conducted to evaluate the lateral load-deflection characteristics of lightgage steel stud/gypsum wallboard panel combinations subjected to lateral cyclic loads. In all, six 8′ × 8′ specimens were tested. A reasonable one-to-one correspondence between the strap area increase and the increase in the contribution from the

Characteristics of the wall–frame interaction in steel plate shear walls

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2010
Abstract The nonlinear response of steel plate shear wall (SPSW) dual systems under lateral loading with regard to the interaction between the infill plates and frame members is studied. A number of SPSWs are numerically analyzed and the results are utilized to discuss (a) the influence of infill plates on the behavior of frames and (b) to evaluate ...
