Recycling End‐of‐Life Solid Oxide Cell Interconnect Assemblies into Commercial‐Grade AISI 304 Stainless Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.

Роль хемоклина и галоклина в образовании углеродистых сланцев [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Laser-induced breakdown spectrometry (LIBS) has been applied for multi-elemental analysis of slag samples from a steel plant. In order to avoid the time-consuming step of sample preparation, the liquid slag material can be filled in special probes. After

Aligning Real‐Time Recurrence Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations with Plant Data for the Ruhrstahl–Heraeus Degassing Process of Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Uncertainties exist in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of complex metallurgical processes, even when partly validated by laboratory experiments. rCFD enables computationally efficient prediction of long‐term RH degassing and can be adapted to vary flow conditions.

Building Damage from Expansive Steel Slag Backfill

open access: yesJournal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1969
Expanding steel slage backfill was unexpectedly found to be the cause of vertical movements of the floor of a basementless building that resulted in significant damage to window and door frames. Five years after construction some parts of the building were still heaving at a rate of 1 cm per yr. Swelling properties of the slag when exposed to different

Thermodynamic Modeling of Sn–C and Fe–Sn–C Systems for the Tramp Elements Control in Steel Production

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A CALculation of PHAse Diagrams thermodynamic modeling for Fe–Sn–C system is carried out. The model and the developed database can be used to calculate phase diagrams and thermodynamic properties of this system over wide temperature/composition range, and a part of a larger thermodynamic database for steel and alloy system, and effectively used to ...

Computational Fluid Dynamic‐Discrete Element Method Study of Biocarbon Injection in Electric Arc Furnaces Using Shrouding Jet Injectors

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study uses coupled computational fluid dynamic‐discrete element method (CFD–DEM) simulations to investigate biomass particle injection through a shrouded lance in electric arc furnaces (EAFs). It examines how biomass properties, feed rate, and lance design affect particle dispersion and delivery efficiency.

Effect of Intrinsic Carbon in Hot Briquetted Iron on Melting and Refining Efficiency under Electric Arc Furnace Conditions for Sustainable Steelmaking with Active Use of H2‐Reduced Iron

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The melting behavior of hot briquetted iron (HBI) is observed and compared with FactSage computing simulation. When using HBI in an electric arc furnace process, a proper design of intrinsic carbon content in HBI, charging ratio of HBI, and addition of lime are proposed to be essential to control the slag volume, maintain slag basicity, and mitigate ...
